Tennessee Children's Home Alumni

Tennessee Children's Home Alumni Past and Present Meet Since 1909 we have served over 18,000 children and families. In September 1982 the name was changed to Tennessee Children’s Home.

History

Tennessee Orphans Home was incorporated in Tennessee on September 14, 1909, for the purpose of “supporting and educating orphan children regardless of sect, creed or denomination.” In April 1947, TOH received not-for-profit 501(c)(3) recognition by the Internal Revenue Service. Services were expanded to include foster care, group home residential treatment, child and family counseling, p

rogram for special needs young women, and independent living programs. The purposes of TCH became to support, educate and provide Christian out-of-home care for abused, dependent, neglected, orphaned, and/or exploited children. TCH has four campuses across the STATE OF TENNESSEE, Spring Hill, West TN (Pinson), North Central (Ashland City), and East TN (Knoxville).

Everyone bring your own picnic style lunch and drinks.

Please spread the word as there will not be any written correspondence sent out. It will be only word of mouth.

This is also open to our “town friends,” former classmates and former houseparents. Tell them to bring their lunch and come join us.

Any questions can be directed to Pamela Vondohlen Hicks or Shirley Jo Parker (Randolph).

Spread the word and hope to see you there.

—-TOH/TCH REUNION CANCELED—-
9/11/2021

Repost from August 24

To our Tennessee Orphans Home/Tennessee Children's Home Family:

"REUNION" on the TCH Spring Hill campus scheduled for Saturday September 11th is "CANCELLED."😞

We regret that Covid has once again forced our hand for our plans for a last reunion on the old campus.

On behalf of the Alumni Committee, this has been a hard decision but at the same time we fear for the safety and health of our alumni family. We can't in good conscience take the risk due to all of the close socializing that would be taking place.

This post will be shared numerous times between now and the 11th in hopes that most people will get the word. If you see this post, please acknowledge so we can try to see who we may need to reach out to that might have missed the post.

Please pass the word around to anyone and everyone.

TOH/TCH September 12th reunion to be postponed.

We, the Tennessee Orphans Home Alumni Committee, after much thought and consideration feel that it is necessary to once again "postpone" our upcoming reunion that was scheduled for September 12th on the TCH campus. We were holding out in hopes for a better handle on the Covid pandemic. We know that this is a big disappointment and can only say we will once again try to come up with a new game plan once we feel it is safe to gather as a large group. We ask that each of you please pass the word to all and anyone of our alumni or Spring Hill friends that planned to attend. Please share this post as to get the word out.

Subject: Change in date for 2020 TOH/TCH Annual reunion

*Mark your calendars for "NEW DATE" Saturday, September 12th for our last reunion on the Spring Hill campus.

*Since the campus has sold and is relocating to another location in Spring Hill, all other reunions will be decided upon at a later date.

We plan to make this reunion a bigger and better reunion so we encourage each of you to help us spread the word and get other alumni, family and friends involved. Would love to see some of our friends from our school days at Spring Hill High School.

An invitation will be in the mail soon. If you do not receive a letter, that means we do not have your latest address. Please message any address changes to ensure you receive our newsletter.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

It's a bittersweet moment in the life of Tennessee Children's Home. We sadly say good-bye to our Main Street location that we resided for nearly 85 years. There are many memories of the past, especially for our alumni Tennessee Orphan Home. Yet, we are excited to continue serving the at-risk of Middle Tennessee at our new location on the corner of Beechcroft and Dr. Robertson Rd, Spring Hill. A Ground-Breaking ceremony will be soon.

Tennessee Orphan’s Home - Tennessee Children’s Home June 2019 Alumni Reunion

Please take note to the change in dates for our annual reunion on the Spring Hill campus. This year’s reunion will be held Saturday June 22nd in the Heron Center/dining hall. It will NOT be Father’s Day weekend as previously thought. We are so sorry if this has caused any problems for anyone planning on attending. We ran into a problem with someone else having reserved the dining hall before us. You will be receiving a TOH/TCH letter in a few days with details for our June Spring Hill and our September Chickasaw reunion. If you are not receiving correspondence from the alumni committee and would like to, please contact myself or Steve Terry with your current address. Please make plans to attend and pass the word. Thank you ... For the Alumni Committee we look forward to seeing everyone. Thanks, Pamela Vondohlen Hicks
