π IMPORTANT ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL REMINDERS
Floyd families, we need your help with several important safety concerns during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.
β° MORNING DROP-OFF BEGINS AT 9:00 AM
Our gates open at 9:00 AM. Students should not be dropped off before 9:00 AM unless they are enrolled in and attending the YMCA Before School Program.
Students who are dropped off early cannot enter campus and are not supervised by school staff. We have had students waiting around the front of the school, gathering or playing in the grassy areas, and even playing sports while waiting for the gates to open.
Yesterday, a student was injured while waiting outside before the gates opened. This is a serious safety concern and highlights why students should not be dropped off before 9:00 AM.
Please do not drop students off early to avoid the car line or as an alternative to before-school care. Until our gates open and students enter campus, school supervision is not available.
π PLEASE USE THE APPROPRIATE CAR LINE
The front car loop is reserved for our buses and families of VPK, ESE PreK, and ESE self-contained students only.
β
This loop is intentionally kept at a lower traffic volume. Our VPK, ESE PreK, and ESE self-contained students need to be delivered directly to a staff member, making safe and efficient access to the front of the school especially important for these families.
Our school buses also use the front loop. When additional vehicles use this area, buses may be unable to enter and unload in a timely manner, which can delay students getting to class on time.
Please do not use the front loop to avoid waiting in the main car line. We understand that the main car line can be busy, but using the appropriate loop keeps traffic moving as intended and allows us to safely receive all of our students.
π STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 4:40 PM
We have seen an increase in the number of students who are not picked up by 4:40 PM, which is the end of our staff workday.
Please plan to arrive with enough time for your student to be picked up and leave the car line by 4:40 PM. Simply arriving on campus or entering the car line by 4:40 PM is not considered an on-time pick-up.
Students who have not been picked up by 4:40 PM will be brought to the front office. Parents or guardians will then need to park and come to the office to pick up their student.
Late pick-ups require staff members to remain beyond their scheduled workday to supervise students and complete the pick-up process. We ask families to please plan accordingly.
We understand that emergencies and unexpected delays happen. If you know you will not be able to pick up your child by 4:40 PM, please contact the front office at 352-797-7055 as soon as possible.
Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe, fair, and efficient for all of our Floyd Dolphins. π¬ππ
