Scott & Amelia Moore founded the nonprofit, Athentikos in 2008 to authentically give back to Guatemala, the birth country of their two adopted sons. Scott is a video producer and Amelia is a photographer. They recruited teams of creatives and took three trips to Guatemala in 2009 / 2010 to produce the feature-length, award winning documentary ‘Reparando’. In 2011, Athentikos was established as a 5

01(c)3 non-profit and began production for a second documentary, ‘Becoming Fools’, which depicts the story of creatives empowering at-risk youth living in the streets of Guatemala. Athentikos developed a creative arts program called "I AM ART" in 2010 that processes personal story through creative arts and resolves conflict through God's greater story of redemption.

Our first Athentikos Art Gathering was everything we hoped it would be. Twenty-eight people gathered around tables on the porch of the historic Glen Leven Farm in Nashville TN while the rain fell and the sun came out. We shared snacks, created art, met new friends, and reflected on creativity, restoration, and beauty through a Kintsugi-inspired project.
As participants pieced their broken bowls back together, meaningful insights emerged:
“I couldn’t get all the pieces to fit; perhaps in life we need to let go of a few things.”
“I focused on the outside and then realized I could draw on the inside too.”
“I loved piecing it all back together but enjoyed leaving some out.”
“I wouldn’t consider myself an artist, but drawing was so calming that I never even repaired my bowl.”
These moments are exactly why we believe creativity matters. Art creates space for reflection, connection, conversation, and discovery. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped launch this new community. We are excited to continue building intentional creative gatherings here in Nashville while supporting the work of I AM ART and Athentikos in Guatemala. Many of our SOY ARTE projects at the last camp centered around Van Gogh’s Starry Night. In this one, we each receive a piece to replicate and enlarge - it was fun to see the end result and talk about our theme that all our stories are connected!

Athentikos team with mission X visiting a local artist, Kenny, in San Antonio, Guatemala working on a collaborative painting together. We had been inspired by Van Goghs Starry Night and all jumped in together to paint it! It was fun having all our arms tangled up to creative something fun and meaningful! Kenny’s personal testimony and mosaic art inspired us all to listen to God’s voice and draw closer to Him through art.

Highlights from a Day Two at I AM ART camp with students working at CEIVA in Guatemala. Screen Printing shirts, making masks, playing games and discussing how we respond to struggles. One project covered their oil pastel landscapes with black pastel to symbolism how sin and struggles left unforgiven and in unhealthy responses in our life covers up God’s creation and purpose in our lives. @

Our theme for the first day is I AM UNIQUE. as we start to create art we learn how God has created each of as a unique masterpiece.

At the Soy Arte camp at the Opal House in Guatemala, our young artists (grades 1–2) explored the theme I AM ART through a playful and powerful textile workshop led by Elena Baggett, a college student who spent her summer in Guatemala. 💛🧵🌿
🎨 The kids dyed fabric, experimented with color, and even created cyanotype prints using sunlight and nature. Every piece reflected their joy and individuality.
✂️ But on Conflict Day, they were asked to do something hard—choose their favorite piece… and cut it. Some hid their artwork. Some froze. The idea of tearing something they loved felt like too much.
💫 And still, they did it. With courage, they turned what was broken into something new: a small hand-stitched stuffie, soft and filled with meaning.
These little creations now carry a big message—
Even when life feels torn, I AM ART.
Even in brokenness, beauty is possible.
Even when we start over, we are still becoming. 💫

This I AM ART dance workshop at Opal House was full of movement, creativity, and confidence—led by the amazing Renata Delgado, one of our Guatemalan volunteers! 💃✨🎨
The 1st–2nd grade artists learned a fun choreographed dance, created adorable monster t-shirts, and expressed themselves through art projects that celebrated their unique personalities. 👕🖍️
But Conflict Day brought a challenge—
The kids danced blindfolded. 👀🩰
At first, they were unsure… but something beautiful happened. With their eyes covered, they danced with even more freedom—no longer worried about being watched. They moved with confidence, joy, and bravery.
🌟 During the final art show, their performance filled the room with laughter, tears, and cheers. It wasn’t just about dancing—it was about becoming.
Because even when we can’t see the way…
I AM ART.
I can move. I can shine. I am becoming. 💛
