We had the BEST day today for GLOW DAY!

GLOW DAY is easily one of my most favorite days during the whole year!

We had such a FUN day yesterday getting to wear our PJs, playing games, watching a movie, having popcorn, and bringing in a stuffy!

I LOVE that we get to have days like this! I love that we get to make these fun memories together!

I also LOVE incorporating games into our learning as much as possible!! It makes learning more fun and engaging!

We made OOBLECK this week as part of our States of Matter unit!

We learned all about how it is a Non-Newtonian substance that takes on qualities of both a solid and a liquid!

The kids had a lot of fun mixing it and then applying different pressures and forces to it to see how it responded.

If you want to make it at home, we did a 2:1 ration of cornstarch to water. You can also add food coloring too!! When you’re done with it, dump it in the trash - DO NOT put it down the sink drain!!

Over the last few weeks, we got to learn more about leopards, pigs, axolotls, cheetahs, bobcats, tigers, jaguars, and foxes from our student experts!

The presenters not only did an amazing job researching their animals, but also putting together amazing diorama, slideshow presentations, and posters to showcase facts about their animals!

The students were attentive as an audience, asked great questions, and complimented the presenters on their hard work!

I love that these children are learning valuable and transferable skills related to interest, inquiry, research, presentations, and public speaking!

This last week we had student experts present and teach us about:

-Pumas
-Koalas
-Border Collies
-Platypuses
-Wolves

The student experts learned so much while doing their research. Then they taught the other students so much as they presented on their animal! These particular students chose to put together dioramas and one slide show to showcase the habitat of their animal.

This coming week we’ll learn about some other animals through dioramas, posters, and slide shows!

🧲 Our devotional was about magnetic attractions today. 🧲

It was a really great lesson about the light we shine from Jesus attracting some and repelling others. 🕯️💡

We got out some magnets and played around to see how the opposite sides attract and the same sides repel. The kids really loved learning about magnets! This might be one of the units we incorporate soon!

We have bunnies!! The kids were so excited to meet Hopscotch and Hopcorn! 🐰 🐰

They are so excited to get to take care of them and play with them!

“They’re little fluff balls full of fluff!!!”

Today in Spanish, the kids learned the Spanish alphabet! They made so many awesome connections to words they have seen or heard in Spanish.

🎶🎶 They also got to play tambourines along with the new alphabet song.

🦊 Then they learned the Spanish name of the animals they are researching!

🐸 They also got to listen to the book "Salta, Ranita, Salta!" (Jump, Frog, Jump!). They made SO many amazing connections from the book to what we are learning about with our animal research project - they even pointed out that the book is cycling through a food chain! 🐸

We are SO excited about our newest unit!

The kids each picked out their own animal to research and become an expert on!

One of my favorite activities from math today was this greater than, less than, and equal to activity!

We pulled out coins in different combinations and then used tooth picks to show greater than, less than, and equal to!

The older kids are super excited to be using the computers for the first time at Rooted Life Academy! They are putting together a slide about a rainforest animal they have been learning about. Then they will get to use their slide to teach the other students about their rainforest animal!

We’ve been LOVING learning about the rainforest!

So far we’ve learned about:

👉🏻Three Toed Sloths
👉🏻Jaguars

We've got toucans, green iguanas, chameleons, macaws, blue morph butterflies, howler monkeys, anacondas, capybaras, and pumas still to learn about!

The kids have been absolutely loving about the four layers of the rainforest, how animals use camouflage, what physical and behavioral traits animals have to protect themselves, and so much more!

We had the absolute BEST time snuggling, cuddling, and playing with the sweetest and most playful puppies ever at Faith and Family Farm! These Bernese Mountain Dog pups were so sweet! We loved getting to also meet Willow!! I think the smiles say it all: these puppy cuddles will be remembered for a really long time!! Thank you so much Faith and Family Farms!!

Using a sand tray is a great fine motor activity to help build hand muscles while practicing stroke order and letter shapes!

It’s a great multisensory tool that gives children a tactile and kinesthetic activity to practice their learning!

It’s also super fun!

If you zoom in, you can see glue dots on the letters in the spiral. This also gives children tactile and kinesthetic practice! This is super simple to make - it just takes some laminated pages and a bottle of glue. Let it dry and it’s ready to go! This page also has shiny star stickers to show where to start on each letter!

We had our FIRST Spanish class today and it was absolutely amazing!

The kids learned how to say their names in Spanish, say a couple of phrases, and started learning a few colors!

They are absolutely SO excited to learn more from our amazing Spanish teacher, Ms. Ana! ❤️
