Mrs. B. going over our math test today. After she returned students’ assessments, she called groups up one at a time to go over difficult questions. She walked through the questions that were missed and helped students to learn from their mistakes. This is an important step as we will continue to use these skills in our future learning. Over the weekend, Mrs. B. will create new WIN groups based off of these assessments.

This girl right here….is BLOWING us away. Not only has she already completed her Cycle 6 IXL strands, but she has also completed her ENTIRE IXL Action Plan AND asked for her updated one!

This girl was able to join us for our IXL Lunch Bunch today (and bring a +1) for her hard work. Keep soaring girl…your future is bright!

In WIN today, Mrs. B. worked with a group on addition and subtraction while I reviewed multiplication strategies. We started to learn about the standard algorithm. I will expose them to this strategy over the next few days before doing some enrichment on fractions. Looking forward to watching them grow!

After kiddos wrapped up their assessment we began our unit on multiplication. We started by learning how to create a T-Chart for factorization and what the words Prime and Composite mean. Then, we started working on the Area Model for multiplication. This should be a review as Mrs. B. has been introducing it during our bell ringers. We will spend a few lessons on the Area Model before moving into Partial Products (my favorite!).

Happy Tuesday!

Here is today’s quote and Mrs. B. doing some pre-teaching on Factorization. We will start learning about factors, multiples, and prime and composite numbers in our next unit. Many of our kiddos were saying that this was one of their Action Plan strands on IXL so this was great to hear.

Most of our kiddos wrapped up their Addition, Subtraction, and Estimation assessment today. A few kiddos need to finish the last page or their bonus question. They will have a few minutes to finish tomorrow. We will also begin our first lesson on Multiplication (using the Area Model) and begin our Unit 3 review in Reveal.

Just a friendly reminder that schools are CLOSED next Monday and Tuesday.
