River Valley is a consolidated school district comprised of 12 townships and four villages (Arena, Lone Rock, Plain, and Spring Green) located in four different counties (Sauk, Iowa, Richland, and Dane) and is one of the larger geographic school districts in Wisconsin. The district name was selected because the district boundaries are on both sides of the Wisconsin River Valley. Our district has a rich tradition of providing opportunity for all students to succeed. We take great pride in providing a variety of coursework and programs with varied instructional techniques that tap the needs and interests of our diverse student population. It is the people of our district—students, staff, faculty, Board, administration, parents, and community members—that make River Valley a very special place to learn and grow. Our school-community truly cares about students and, therefore, places high emphasis on academic standards, appropriate student testing and analysis of results, new and creative teacher training programs, technology integration, and a host of co-curricular programs. Please contact any school administrator to discuss our school system or to make recommendations for how we might better serve our students of “The Valley.”

We have so much to be proud of in our River Valley School District and have created a video to illustrate some of our strengths and exciting beliefs about the education our students receive.

🌱 October is Farm to School Month! Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting some of the ways we connect students with fresh foods, agriculture, and where their food comes from.

🥝 Students had the opportunity to try kiwi berries last week. Kiwi berries are a tiny, smooth kiwi you can eat whole, appearing almost like an olive on the outside! Some were skeptical, but the berries were a hit for most! Containing vitamins C and E, fiber, potassium, and antioxidants, kiwi berries provide lots of important nutrients to support growing student bodies!

🚜Keep an eye out for more fun and delicious ways we will celebrate Farm to School Month!

⭐️National Coaches Day!⭐️

In 1972, President Richard Nixon issued Proclamation 4157, naming October 6th as National Coaches Day. The proclamation recognized coaches as highly qualified teachers in highly specialized fields, who also become friends and counselors of those they coach.

At River Valley we are incredibly fortunate for the many dedicated coaches who motivate and inspire our student athletes every day. Thank you, coaches, for helping to build confidence, teach skills, shape lives, and instill positivity in our River Valley students!

☕It was a very successful first day for the Blackhawk Brew Crew Coffee Shop!!

👏The crew did an awesome job getting everything ready, taking orders, making drinks, and delivering them to high school staff. They were excited to have the opportunity to put their skills into practice and serve staff members, taking great pride in their hard work!

On September 23, 7th and 8th graders (along with 6th and 9th graders who performed in the spring play) attended American Players Theatre performance of As You Like It by William Shakespeare.

Prior to attending the Tony-award winning local theatre, 7th and 8th graders read and summarized the play.

It is a great privilege to get to see such excellent theatre right here in the River Valley community!

6th grade students in Mrs. Owen and Mrs. Pulvy’s classes watch CNN 10 each day during Blackhawk as a curricular tool to introduce current events. Current events are integrated not as standalone lessons, but as a comparative tool to fulfill the Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies. In the classroom, current events create dialogue, inspire critical thinking, and help students gain perspective.

This group is hoping for a shot out from Coy Wire! Please like and share this post to help them out!
