🏗️ CONSTRUCTION UPDATE! 🏗️
Mother Nature has definitely been on our side this week! ☀️ The warm, dry weather has allowed crews to make great progress both inside and outside the building.
With most of the interior demolition now complete, we’re getting closer to an exciting milestone — moving from demolition into the construction and rebuilding phase! 🙌
🎭 Performing Arts Addition
• Site work is underway for new underground utilities.
• Footers for the new interior and exterior walls have been excavated, with the concrete base now poured.
🎶 Auditorium & Band Areas
• New doorway and sound booth window openings are taking shape.
• Existing storage rooms and the network closet have been removed to make way for the new ADA-accessible ramp.
• Interior walls, ductwork, and utilities have been removed from the band rooms, and abatement work is complete.
🏀 Locker Rooms
• Interior demolition is complete as crews prepare for new Team Rooms and Storage/Laundry Facilities.
• Installation of new VRF HVAC cassette units is underway.
• And crews uncovered a special piece of history — a painted mural of a charging Knight hidden behind the old athletic lockers! 🛡️💙 A reminder of the building’s original occupants, the Knights of Spotsylvania High School from 1968–1992.
🚧 Road Improvements
• Work continues on new stormwater inlet structures and concrete drainage pipes.
• Portions of the existing sidewalk are being removed as preparations begin to widen the roadway and add turn lanes into the school property.
