Before joining Spotsylvania Career and Tech Center Mrs. Schmidt spent 27 years in the dental field, working in orthodontics and general dentistry. Today, she brings that incredible real-world experience into the classroom, helping students build their skills, gain confidence, and get excited about their future careers in dental assisting!

Meet Mr. Robert C. Moss Jr., our HVACR I & II Instructor! ❄️🔥🛠️

Before joining SpotsyCTC, Mr. Moss worked as an Operating Engineer and HVAC Technician with Fairfax County Public Schools. Now, he brings that real-world experience into the classroom and lab, where his favorite part of teaching is seeing that “Aha!” moment when a student takes HVACR theory and successfully puts it into practice.

This week at Spotsylvania Career and Tech Center, we’re highlighting #3: Initiative & Self-Direction, an essential skill for success in school, the workplace, and beyond.

Initiative means being willing to see what needs to be done and take action, without always waiting for someone to tell you what to do.

Throughout the week, we encourage our students to think about how they can:

🚀 Take Proactive Action — anticipate needs and get started.
📈 Improve the Workplace — look for ways to make things better, safer, or more efficient.
🎯 Practice Self-Management — set goals, monitor progress, and take ownership of responsibilities.
