Getting arrows tuned for this new 2 piece takedown Osage bow! Look out turkeys!
I got this method of tuning from YouTube . Have someone record from high above and behind you as you shoot and record in slow-motion at 20 yards. This arrow setup shows a slightly weak spine flying nock right (left handed). To correct the arrow flight I’ll go to a lighter point weight- raising dynamic spine. HEAVY Osage longbow!
The student was shooting for 100lbs@30” originally, he came in a bit low at 93lbs @30” due to some early mistakes made. These mistakes would’ve been catastrophic if he didn’t have the help of an experienced bowyer to show the thin spots and hinges early in the building process. We managed to fix the tiller, backset the handle section, and piked the overall length by a couple of inches to add some draw weight. He was smoking the targets and learned a ton! On to the next bow!
This is a hybrid class where the student does most of the work at home and brings it in at various stages of the build for instruction . Expedite the learning curve, take a class with us! If you’ve always wanted to build your own bow shoot us a message!
