We had such a fun and full Family Night this evening! 🥞✨
From enjoying breakfast-for-dinner (pancakes are always a win!) to playing bingo together, it was so great to see our families connecting and laughing.
A huge thank you to for providing free books for our families—such an incredible gift that supports a love of reading. 📚💛
Thank you to for showing up with helpful resources and fun swag for our community!
And shoutout to the Library for bringing engaging, hands-on activities that everyone could enjoy!
Most of all, thank you to our amazing staff and families for making the night so special. We’re so grateful for this community! 💫

Counselor Social Emotional Virtual Lesson this month. Making collages about our passions in 5th grade ❤️

Today we took all of our 3rd–5th grade SVL students to their very first college theater experience at Spokane Falls Community College 🎭
They got to sit inside the Spartan Theatre and watch The Love of Three Oranges — and wow, what a day. From the costumes to the dramatic moments to the big laughs, our students were completely locked in. For many of them, this was their first time seeing a live play, and you could feel the excitement the entire time.
Field trips like this matter. They open doors, spark imagination, and show our students what’s possible beyond the classroom. We had a blast, made memories, and maybe even inspired a few future performers. 💛✨

Major highlights from Snow School ❄️
For most of our students, this was their first day ever at Mount Spokane — and they did not hold back. We snowshoed 3 miles through fresh snow, learned how to rescue someone buried in an avalanche using a beacon, and explored where our local water actually comes from.
They studied native trees from this region, talked about animal migration, and ate lunch at the top like absolute legends. 🏔️
Even better — they met new friends from and built community with another alternative school.
Huge thank you to for teaching our students so well and making the day unforgettable.
I’m pretty sure everyone is exhausted… but the good kind of exhausted. Until next year❄️

Our 8th grade students of color attended Color of Justice Day at the Spokane Courthouse ⚖️
They met lawyers and judges, practiced court proceedings, and explored real courtrooms while learning how the justice system works. Powerful exposure and an inspiring day for our students. 🤍

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by reflecting on the power of love, empathy, and justice. At Spokane Virtual Learning, we are committed to building a community where every student feels seen, valued, and supported—today and every day.
