Play-Based, Child-Led & Nature-Inspired. Reggio Emilia inspired Early Education
Ages 2.5yrs - 6yrs

06/03/2026

We're exploring a new offering for the 2026–2027 school year and we'd love your input!

The Nest Community School is considering an after-school studio community for children in grades K-5 at our Grand Campus,3324 S. Grand Blvd.) (just a short walking distance of Jefferson Elementary and Camp Adams at the old Jefferson building) Possible program hours would be approximately 3:00–5:30 PM on school days.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, the program would provide a welcoming space where children can play, create, explore, build, tinker, spend time outdoors, and connect with friends in a caring mixed-age community. At the heart of the space would be an atelier (creative studio) filled with open-ended materials for making and invention.

Right now, we're just gathering information to find out whether this is something families in our community would find valuable and what they would hope to see included.

If this sounds like something your family might be interested in, please take a moment to complete our interest survey:

Feel free to share with other families who may be interested!

Nestfest 2026 is a Wrap!

Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket, sponsored the event, donated an auction item, placed a bid, bought raffle tickets, volunteered their time, shared the event with friends, or showed up and joined us for an amazing evening. PEEK AT THESE special t-shirt designs that will be Nestfest Exclusives!

Alongside hands-on art experiences, live music, food and drinks, guests will also be able to explore this year’s raffle and auction offerings featuring generous donations from local businesses, artists, and community sponsors who continue to help make this work possible.

From handcrafted goods and local experiences to family favorites and creative treasures, the auction and raffle tables are full of opportunities to support early childhood education while taking home something special.

Thank you to the many sponsors, artists, donors, and community members who have helped bring this event to life. NestFest is one week away and the lineup of artists, makers, musicians, and nature-based experiences will make this event feel unlike anything you've ever experienced!

Spend the evening wandering between woodworking, printmaking, live screen printing, wire + glass art, canvas painting, clay, collage poetry, and hands-on creative stations designed for grownups to remember what it feels like to make things just because it’s joyful.

Live music will drift through the market all evening, alongside ukulele lessons, musical exploration, and a community drum circle.

All food, drinks, materials, and instruction are included with your ticket, and every ticket supports the work of The Nest Community School as we continue growing community spaces for children and families.

Proceeds support The Nest Community School and our work to build more sustainable, relationship-centered early childhood education in Spokane. Funds help provide quality living wages for educators, maintain low teacher-to-child ratios, expand access for families through tuition assistance, support outdoor and nature-based learning spaces, and continue community outreach and parenting programs for families with young children.

Happy Earth Day and Arbor Day from The Nest Community School.

This week, children spent time planting seeds, herbs, and strawberries in the garden. We also got hands-on learnig about recycling as we transformed newspaper and paper scraps into earth-shaped seed bombs filled with native wildflowers to spread around our community. We went on rainy hikes, splashed in the mud, and took time to notice the world around us.

On Arbor Day, children at our campus helped plant three large Ginkgo trees. They dug, watered, and helped settle the trees into their new space.

Thank you to the Spokane Conservation District for inviting our children to be part of this work. Spokane Conservation District
