Friday I had the opportunity to go into our photography classes and teach them how to do some basic CAD designing in OnShape. They were able to create a lens cover that creates a unique effect when you use it, called a Bokeh effect. Best part, with our new 3D printers, it only takes about 5 minutes to print them out.

Get ready for SkillsUSA No Limits - Washington State competitions, March 21-23. We have 10 students from Ferris attending and I'd love to find some local companies to sponsor a student. I'd also like to take them out to a nice team dinner to celebrate them and their hard work. All sponsors will receive acknowledgement on social media as well as being tagged in posts with pictures of the students they sponsored competing at state.
Next year, funds from our student business Ferris Manufacturing will cover these expenses. But, since we just launched in January, we don't have the funds this year. Maybe your company might consider helping us out and sponsoring a student our or dinner this year.
Here are the specifics:
Cost of hotel -$100 and cost of transportation - $125
Total sponsorship per student - $225
Team dinner for 10 in Tacoma- $400
Cyber Security - 2 students
Robotics Search and Rescue - 2 students
Minds-i Drones Challenge - 2 students
Digital Cinema - 2 students
TV Production - 2 students
