Many states allow this. Washington does not. When traveling out of state be extra cautious and look twice for motorcycles.

Did you know this is now LEGAL in Colorado?

Motorcycles can lane-filter when traffic is fully stopped. A move designed to prevent rear-end crashes and improve safety.

Drivers and riders both need to understand the rules. Read the full breakdown:

October is National Pedestrian Safety Month!

Every trip — whether you’re walking, biking, or driving — deserves to be a safe one.

Pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility:

👀 Drivers: stay alert, slow down, and always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
🚶 Pedestrians: use sidewalks where available, make eye contact with drivers, and stay visible at night.
📱 Everyone: put distractions down and focus on the road.

At 911 Driving School Spokane, we don’t just teach future drivers how to operate a car — we teach them how to share the road safely with everyone.

➡️ Let’s work together to keep Spokane’s streets safe for all this October.

As a Driver, Watch for Motorcyclists!

Motorcycles are smaller and harder to see — but they have the same right to the road as every other vehicle.

Here are a few reminders to keep everyone safe:
👀 Check twice before changing lanes or turning
🚗 Give extra space — motorcycles stop more quickly than cars
🌙 Use caution at night — bikes can be harder to spot
🚦 Yield fairly — treat motorcycles as you would any other vehicle

At 911 Driving School Spokane, we teach drivers that safety is about awareness and respect for everyone on the road.

➡️ Stay alert. Share the road. Save lives.

Didn’t pass your Washington State driving test? Here’s what to do next.

You’re not alone — lots of drivers don’t pass their practical test the first time. The good news? Every attempt is a chance to learn and come back stronger.

Here’s your next step:

1️⃣ Look over your score sheet – it shows exactly where mistakes happened.
2️⃣ Focus your practice on those skills (like turns, speed control, or parking).
3️⃣ Book a lesson or two with one of our instructors for targeted coaching.
4️⃣ Reschedule your test when you feel more confident behind the wheel.

Remember: failing isn’t the end — it’s part of the learning process. The goal is safe, consistent driving skills that last a lifetime.

The Impact of Distracted Driving

Distracted driving isn’t just risky — it’s one of the leading causes of crashes on our roads. Taking your eyes off the road for just a few seconds can change everything.

The impact can mean:
❌ A ticket and higher insurance rates
❌ A serious crash that injures you or others
❌ A split-second mistake that can have lifelong consequences

Every text, call, or distraction can wait. Lives can’t.

Stay focused. Stay safe.

School Bus Safety Isn’t Just About the Bus

With school back in session, traffic routines are changing — and so should your driving habits.

⚠️ Children may be crossing streets, darting between parked cars, or walking to unfamiliar stops.

As a driver, your best tools are patience and awareness.

✅ Watch for kids near crosswalks and intersections
✅ Always yield to school buses and obey crossing guards
✅ Avoid distractions — especially during pickup and drop-off hours

📣 A few extra seconds behind the wheel could save a life.

Spokane’s Sobering Reality: Impaired Drivers in Fatal Crashes

This chart shows just how much impaired driving continues to impact our community.

2015: 12
2018: 2 (lowest)
2021: 11 (highest year in between)
2024: 12 (back to the same high as 2015)

📉 While there have been some positive years, the numbers are climbing again — a clear reminder that impaired driving is still a major threat on Spokane’s roads.

✅ Our reminder to Spokane drivers:

Never drive under the influence of alcohol, ma*****na, or drugs.
Always plan a safe ride home.
Step in if a friend tries to drive impaired.
Together, we can reduce these numbers and save lives. 💙

Stop Means Stop — School Bus Safety Reminder

🚸 Back-to-school season is here — and that means school buses are back on the roads.

As drivers, we all share the responsibility of keeping kids safe.

🛑 When a school bus has its stop sign extended and red lights flashing, YOU MUST STOP.

Whether you're behind the bus or approaching from the opposite direction on a two-lane road — it’s the law.

✅ Never try to pass a stopped school bus
✅ Be extra alert in school zones and neighborhoods
✅ Slow down — kids may cross unexpectedly

Let's make sure every child gets to and from school safely.

The Danger of Texting and Driving

It’s just a few seconds, right?
Wrong.

At 60 mph, taking your eyes off the road for 3 seconds is like driving the length of a football field blindfolded.

Texting while driving is one of the deadliest distractions — especially for teens and young drivers.

✅ Pro tip: No text is worth a crash. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb while driving — or better yet, out of reach.

Stay focused. Stay safe. Someone’s life depends on it — maybe even yours.
