If we try to "fix" our children's problems, they will never be able to do that for themselves. Guiding and teaching children how to handle big emotions and problems are life lessons they need to grow up confident and capable.

You don’t have to fix their worry.

When kids feel nervous, our instinct is often to make the feeling go away.

“Don’t worry.”
“You’ll be fine.”
“There’s nothing to be nervous about.”

Those words come from love, but sometimes kids need something different!

They may simply need to hear:

“I know this feels hard.”

And then, rather than immediately solving the problem for them:

“What do you think might help?”

That combination sends two powerful messages:

“I understand how you feel.”

and

“I believe you can handle this.”

We can have empathy for the feeling without taking over the problem.

That’s how difficult moments can become opportunities to build confidence.

This Friday, August 14th, Dutch Bros and Numerica Credit Union are partnering to support families impacted by the Spokane wildfires.
For every drink sold at participating locations, $1 will be donated, with donations up to $15,000 matched by Numerica.
🎒 Numerica’s funds will support school districts directly impacted by recent fires.
🏠 Dutch Bros’ funds will go to Innovia Foundation to support families who have lost their homes and the ongoing needs of recovery.
One donation helps with what families need now. The other helps with what they’ll need as they rebuild.

This means so many of our families can go home. Thank goodness! Harvard Park will be open tomorrow! We can’t wait to see our families!

BREAKING: Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels announced at a press conference that Level 3 evacuations for the Spokane Area Fires have been downgraded "significantly." Areas in green are now Level 1.

Nowels said the decision was made after the red flag weather event over the weekend did not further the spread of fire as officials were concerned about.
