The Daddy Daughter Dance was only two weeks ago, but we're still feeling the love from all the wonderful families and friends who attended our fundraiser. Here are just a few photos from the dance floor. Do you see your favorite couple? 😍

If you missed this opportunity at Saturday’s Daddy Daughter Dance, we would like to share this again and ask for your consideration and help for Julie Silbar, a past President & long-time Mead Education Foundation Board Member who has contributed so much to the community, the Mead School District, and Spokane.

She is battling AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) and has transitioned from Fred Hutch in Seattle to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the top leukemia hospital in the country. They have two clinical trials that offer the best chance at becoming eligible for the bone marrow transplant that is critical for her survival. Without the transplant, the prognosis is not favorable. Time is of the essence. The disease progresses daily, and we don’t have time to spare or wait for treatment.

Julie is a single mom to two teenage daughters (one a Mead HS Sophomore, the other a 2024 Mead HS Graduate & Valedictorian), an adjunct professor at Gonzaga University, and a co-founder of Next Chapter. This Spokane nonprofit provides home goods and furnishings to people exiting homelessness in our community.

Thank you for your consideration, donations, and for sharing. Let's rally to save Julie's life.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
The Mead Education Foundation is excited to welcome you and your loved ones to the Daddy Daughter Dance at Northwood Middle School on February 7, 2026. Here are a few things to know before you go!

Parking
Please park in one of the four lots near Northwood, or utilize parking along Pittsburg or other nearby streets. Overflow lots are available at Farwell Elementary, if necessary. See illustrated map below. A Mead School District shuttle van will be in and around the parking lots, including Farwell, if you’d like a lift to and from the dance entrance.

Dance entrance
Please enter the dance through the gym only (indicated in yellow on the map below). All other doors will be closed to entry. Our volunteers will scan tickets displayed on your phone or printed out from the ticketing website.

Coat check
It’s going to be a cold evening, but we’ve got you covered. Coat racks will be available for guests inside the main entrance. After checking in at the Dance Entrance, you’ll be directed to the Coat Check area before proceeding to the dance or photography gym.

Photography
Dorian Studios will begin taking photos of couples in the photography gym at 5:30, 30 minutes before the dance starts. Wait times for photography are longer at the beginning of the night, but shorten as the evening progresses. Couples do not need to get photos immediately upon arrival. Dorian Studios will mail printed photos to your home when processed. A free photo booth will also be available inside the dance.

We may be missing your address, which we need to mail your dance photos. If you have not yet provided your mailing address to us via email, please do so as soon as possible. Email [email protected] with your ticket order number, name and mailing address. If we don't get your address before the dance, we'll need to collect it in the photo line.

Let’s dance, but where?
Our DJ, Greg Maguire, will be spinning tunes in the Northwood cafeteria commons from 6:00-8:30 p.m.

Cookies and allergies
A variety of cookies, by Insomnia Cookies, will be available during the event. According to Insomnia’s Allergen Statement, “Many of our products contain or may come into contact with common food allergens, including eggs, milk, wheat, soy, sesame, peanuts and/or tree nuts.”

We will also have some assorted dry snacks, water and juice available.

Please send us your photos!
We’d love to feature your photo on our Mead Education Foundation page. Please email us photos from the dance, dinner, sweet selfies or perfect pics from home before you head out–or maybe all of the above! By sending us your photos to [email protected] you’re giving the Mead Education Foundation permission to post your photo on social media or future marketing for this event and confirming that parents or guardians of pictured minors consent to such use.

Mead Education Foundation's 2026 Daddy Daughter Dance 01/26/2026

This is the last week to get your 2026 Daddy Daughter Dance tickets before prices increase on January 31. Sure, the price increase is only $5, but hey, that’s $5 you could spend on dinner before the big event!

This event is the largest annual fundraiser for the Mead Education Foundation. MEF provides grants for educators in the Mead School District. The cost of your tickets covers the dance, while also allowing MEF to continue its mission to support students in the district.

The dance will be held at Northwood Middle School on Feb. 7, 2026. Your couple’s ticket includes one 5x7 photo, music, dancing and cookies. Oh, and endless memories! The dance will be held from 6pm-8:30pm. You can get in line for photos as early as 5:30. Cost: $55 per couple + $10 for additional guests. On Jan. 31, per couple price increases to $60. Sales at the door are not guaranteed. Last year we almost sold out!
