After just 14 days of eating a healthier diet, women’s blood was able to slow down breast cancer cells growing in petri dishes—killing 20–30% more cancer cells than before the diet change. Researchers linked this effect to lower levels of IGF-1, a cancer-promoting growth hormone.

People eating plant-based diets for 14 years have half the amount of IGF-1 in their bodies, and more than twice the IGF-binding protein than those eating a more westernized diet.

What benefits do lifestyle changes have on breast cancer survival? Here are a few examples:

➡️ EAT FRUITS AND VEGGIES: Eating five or more servings a day and walking about 30 minutes a day, six days a week, were associated with a significant breast cancer survival advantage.

➡️ LOWER SATURATED FAT: Randomized studies show that when people with early-stage breast cancer lower their saturated fat intake, there is an increase in breast cancer survival.

➡️ HIGH-FIBER DIET: A higher fiber diet was associated with a 37% lower risk of dying from all causes put together and a 28% lower risk of dying specifically from breast cancer among breast cancer survivors––and it didn’t take much. There was about a 10% drop in death risk for every increment of 5 daily grams of dietary fiber. 🥦 That’s like 1 daily cup of oatmeal or broccoli, or just 1/3 cup of beans.

The diet that helps to prevent cancer also helps to prevent heart disease.
🚭 don’t smoke
👟 walk every day
🥦🫐 center your diet around whole plant foods

By living and eating more healthfully, we can increase our chances of living a long, healthy life.

I was trying to surprise my hubby and make the Peppernut cookies from the Josh and Angela cookbook.

I had to phone a friend once (thanks to my sis) and many times I kept saying,”I can’t do this!”

But then….. yum!

I can make this!!

Thank you and Josh Snyder! Hubby hasn’t come home yet, but I think he will be happy!

Glowing, clear, and beautiful skin starts with what we eat. Skin is our largest organ, and its appearance is both a reflection of what we put onto our skin, as well as into our bodies. Recent nutrition studies have shown that eating foods rich in nutrients that support skin health–including antioxidants, vitamins, and microminerals–can improve skin structure and moisture, and protect against sun damage. You may be broken down at the moment, but know that this is only temporary; you WILL come back stronger 💪

Nothing brings a tear to my eye or softens my heart faster than when my husband says “I am so proud of you”

It weighs so much heavier than the words ‘I love you’. I love you has become so easy to say to everyone and everything. I am guilty of flippantly saying I love you to bacon or a new friend.

But hearing ‘I am proud of you’ are words that are rarely spoken. They carry so much more truth to them.

Hearing the sincerity and honest tones of his strong voice remind me why I fight for health and wellness.

I told Keith I fight because he still needs me.

The truth is I fight because I still need him.

I need him to tell me I am doing a good job.
I need him to let me pretend that I am strong and independent.
I need him to support me when I can’t.
I need him to be proud of me.
