YES -- local co-ops are still going to be open next year (and long into the future)!

*Teacher Laura posting here* There have been multiple recent news articles about state funding no longer supporting co-ops. Many of the pictures on these articles are of NW Parent Co-Op. Thankfully, our local outlook isn't as grim as the news article implies. Each co-op is an independent business and runs primarily on funds from child enrollment. Our co-ops never received state funding directly, but rather funneled through our local community colleges. College support provides us with a portion of teacher salaries, access to affordable insurance, and access to additional resources for parents. There HAS been a major change in state allocation of funds, and it cuts off the traditional route through which the colleges have supported us. However, our Spokane co-ops are not closing (though many on the west side of the state are). We've been in close contact with SFCC in the past few weeks and been assured that not only is the funding for next year's programs already set aside--Spokane Falls Community College views early childhood education as one of the key areas of importance in our region and is working to find ways to continue supporting local co-ops in the future. If you have kiddos aged 0-5 come check us out; we're enrolling for next year.

Our Family Day class (ages 0–5) is a once-a-week class for children and parents to play, explore, and discover together through music, art, sensory experiences, and nature. It’s a gentle, joyful introduction to school and a wonderful way to build confidence and connection. 💛
