❤️ When Child Care Feels Like Family
What makes a small, licensed family child-care program different?
It isn’t simply the number of children in the room.
It’s the opportunity to truly know each child.
In a small home preschool, children aren’t just names on a roster or items on a daily checklist. We have the opportunity to notice the little things—what makes a child curious, what helps them feel comfortable, what they are ready to learn, what they love, and where they need a little extra encouragement.
🌿 Small class sizes mean more individual attention.
🌿 Mixed-age learning gives children opportunities to learn from and care for one another, much like they do in a family.
🌿 Consistency and routine create a sense of security because children know their environment, their caregiver, and what to expect each day.
🌿 Individualized learning allows us to follow children’s interests and developmental needs rather than simply trying to get through a checklist.
🌿 A family-style environment gives children countless opportunities to practice kindness, patience, cooperation, responsibility, and caring for others.
And perhaps most importantly, learning doesn’t have to feel separate from childhood.
We can learn through a story on the couch, a conversation at the table, an art project, helping with a simple task, exploring outside, solving a problem with a friend, or discovering something that sparks a child’s curiosity.
There is room to slow down.
There is room to notice.
There is room to know the child in front of us.
That is one of the beautiful things about licensed family child care. It can combine the structure, safety, and accountability parents want with the warmth, stability, and personal connection children need.
Choosing child care is a big decision, and parents should absolutely ask questions, visit programs, check licensing and inspection records, meet the provider, and choose the environment that feels right for their family.
But don’t overlook the small, licensed home programs in your community.
Sometimes the place that looks a little more like home is exactly where a child can feel most at home. 🏡❤️
Small doesn’t mean less.
Sometimes, small means more.
More connection.
More consistency.
More individual attention.
More opportunity to grow.
More room to simply be a child.
That is what family child care can offer.

Learning Through Literature 📚✨
At Enchanted Valley Preschool, literature is more than story time—it is a thread woven throughout our entire curriculum.
Each day, we gather together to enjoy a picture book, but the learning doesn’t stop when the story ends. I intentionally choose literature that opens the door to conversation, imagination, discovery, and meaningful learning.
📖 Language & Literacy
We explore letters, sounds, phonetic awareness, vocabulary, storytelling, print, and the connection between spoken and written language.
🎨 Art & Creativity
Books often become the inspiration for hands-on art projects, creative expression, and opportunities for children to interpret a story in their own unique way.
🔢 Math
Counting, patterns, shapes, measurement, sorting, and problem-solving can all come to life through the characters, settings, and experiences found in children’s literature.
🔬 Science & Discovery
A story about animals, weather, plants, seasons, or the natural world can lead us into real-world investigation and hands-on exploration.
🏛️ History & Culture
Classical literature, folk tales, traditional stories, and beautifully illustrated books give children opportunities to encounter people, places, traditions, and ideas from beyond their everyday experiences.
And perhaps most importantly, literature gives children something meaningful to think about. It encourages questions, builds imagination, expands vocabulary, develops listening skills, and helps children make connections between ideas.
I believe young children deserve rich language, beautiful books, meaningful stories, and plenty of opportunities to experience learning through them.
At Enchanted Valley, a good book can become the beginning of almost anything. ❤️📚
Learning. Exploring. Creating. Growing—one story at a time.

🌿 At Enchanted Valley Preschool, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are given the freedom to explore, move, imagine, and discover.
That’s why outdoor play is an important part of our daily curriculum, with several hours built into our routine each day.
Outdoor play gives children opportunities to develop skills that simply cannot be replicated at a table or worksheet.
🌱 Perseverance
Climbing, balancing, digging, building, and trying something new all give children opportunities to practice, struggle, try again, and experience the satisfaction of figuring something out.
🔎 Observation & Discovery
Nature provides an ever-changing classroom. Children notice insects, plants, weather, shadows, sounds, textures, and seasonal changes while developing curiosity and attention to detail.
🤝 Social Development
Outdoor play creates natural opportunities for children to cooperate, communicate, negotiate, take turns, solve disagreements, and learn how to play alongside and with others.
🧚 Imaginative Play
A stick can become a magic wand. A garden can become a restaurant. A pile of leaves can become a home for fairies. When children have time and space for open-ended play, their imaginations take the lead.
🧩 Problem Solving
How can we get across the muddy area? How can we build a shelter that stays standing? How can we reach that object? Children naturally encounter small problems outdoors—and then work together to find solutions.
🏃 Physical Development
Running, climbing, jumping, balancing, carrying, digging, and exploring help children develop strength, coordination, body awareness, and confidence in what their bodies can do.
Most importantly, outdoor play gives children time to be children.
We don’t believe every moment of the preschool day needs to be structured, directed, or focused on a worksheet. Children need time to explore their environment, follow their curiosity, make choices, take appropriate risks, create their own games, and learn through experience.
At Enchanted Valley, we intentionally create a balance between teacher-guided learning and child-led discovery.
Because play isn’t separate from learning.
Play IS learning. 🌿
And sometimes, the best classroom has grass under our feet, dirt on our hands, and a little room to wonder. 💚

🍎 Kindergarten Begins Long Before Kindergarten
Many parents think kindergarten readiness starts the summer before school…
The truth is, it begins years earlier.
At Enchanted Valley Preschool, our goal isn’t simply to keep children busy. Every day is intentionally designed to build the skills children need to become confident learners.
🌿 We practice:
✨ Letter recognition and phonics
✨ Early reading and writing skills
✨ Number sense and problem solving
✨ Listening and following directions
✨ Independence and confidence
✨ Fine motor skills for writing
✨ Social skills and kindness
Most importantly, we make learning joyful.
Children learn best when they’re playing, exploring, asking questions, and feeling safe enough to make mistakes.
If you’re looking for a preschool where your child will be loved, encouraged, and prepared for kindergarten through meaningful, hands-on learning, we’d love to meet your family.
📍 Now enrolling ages 2–5.
Message us to schedule a tour and see our classroom in person!
Every day looks a little different here, but you’ll always find children exploring, creating, asking questions, and learning through play. We hope you enjoy this little glimpse into life at Enchanted Valley Preschool. ❤️
