🕵️‍♀️🔎 Calling all detectives! Our third graders in Mrs. Brown’s class put on their detective hats Friday as they investigated writing prompts! ✏️📚
Students worked in collaborative groups to analyze each prompt and determine whether it was asking a “why” question or a “how” question. This foundational writing skill helps our Wildcats understand the purpose of the prompt so they can develop strong, focused responses of their own.
We love seeing our students working together, thinking critically, and building the skills they need to become confident writers! ❤️🐾

Second-grade students took the lead today, modeling how to "make the next ten" when adding! 🧮✨

Students demonstrated their thinking, explained their strategies, and showed how breaking apart numbers can make addition easier. We love seeing students confidently share their mathematical thinking and learn from one another! 💛📚

🚀 Mission Control Friday at PCE! 🚀
There’s no better way to launch into a great Friday than coming together as a PCE family! Every Friday at 8:15 AM, our Wildcats gather in the gym for Mission Control Friday—a time to celebrate our students, recognize our staff, build school spirit, and start the day together!
This morning was packed with celebrations! 🎉 We recognized our birthday Wildcats, celebrated our Happy Dance Award winners, and loved seeing our students decked out in their House colors! ❤️💙💚💛🩷💜🧡 We also selected our lucky House winners and TWO exciting Golden Ticket winners! 🎟️✨
🌟 Our Team Spotlight this week was our AMAZING Specials Team! We are so thankful for everything they do each and every day to provide meaningful experiences, encourage our Wildcats, and make PCE such a special place to learn and grow. We are so lucky to have them as part of our PCE family!
And we can’t forget Mrs. Morrison, who SHOWED UP and SHOWED OUT by winning the hula hoop contest for the Pink House! 🩷🏆 Way to represent!
Mission Control Fridays are all about celebrating what makes PCE special—our students, our staff, and our Wildcat family!

Our 5th grade scientists put the Scientific Method into action with Steve Spangler's “Nails for Breakfast” investigation!

Students developed questions, made predictions, conducted a hands-on investigation, collected observations and data, and used evidence to draw conclusions. Most importantly, they experienced how scientists use curiosity, careful observations, and evidence to answer questions about the world around us.

We are excited to see our young scientists building the skills they’ll use throughout the year—and having a little fun in the lab along the way!

Hands-on learning is happening in 1st grade at PCE! Our Wildcats were busy exploring, thinking, and learning as they sorted items based on different characteristics. Activities like this give students the opportunity to work together, explain their thinking, and make meaningful connections to their learning. We love seeing our young Wildcats engaged and excited to learn! 🐾❤️

💙🐾 Servant leadership to the core here at PCE!
Today, our amazing Officer Fornnis jumped right in to help our 4th grade Wildcats water their garden! 🌱💦 Moments like these show our students that leadership is about serving others, lending a helping hand, and being part of the team.
We are so thankful for Officer Fornnis and the positive example he sets for our Wildcats each and every day. At PCE, Every Student, Every Day; Mission: Growth Ready! 🚀🐾

🔬🧊 SCIENTISTS AT WORK IN MRS. STINSON’S CLASS! 🧪✨
Today, Mrs. Stinson’s class kicked off our new science unit on MATTER by observing a phenomenon! 👀 We watched our mystery cube (oil) and water melt and recorded our noticings and wonderings like real scientists.

🔎 Some of our noticings:
• “The cubes are melting slowly!”
• “The substances are NOT mixing!”
• “It looks like butter!”
• “The cube is getting smaller!”
• “It looks like it’s dissolving…but not mixing!”
• And we even started talking about DENSITY! 🤯

💭 And, of course, our wonderings made science even more fun:
• “Is this egg yolk?!” 😂
• “It smells like my mom’s cooking!”
• “Can I eat this?!” 🤣

We had SO much fun observing, questioning, discussing, and thinking like scientists today! 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬
Our new unit on Matter is already sparking so much curiosity, and we can’t wait to continue investigating this phenomenon, testing our ideas, and expanding on all of our wonderings and findings! ❤️🔬

📚 We LOVE Library Time at PCE! 📚
There’s nothing better than seeing our Wildcats excited about books, exploring new stories, and growing their love for reading! ❤️🐾 Every trip to the library is another opportunity to spark curiosity, build imagination, and discover something new.
At PCE, Every Student, Every Day is growing—and our library is one of the many places where that growth comes to life! 📖✨

🎯 Goals Set. Growth Ready! 🎯
Our 4th grade mathematicians at PCE are starting the year with purpose! Students are using their learning data to set meaningful math goals and take ownership of their growth. We love seeing our Wildcats understand where they are, where they want to go, and the steps they can take to get there.
Goal setting helps our students see that growth doesn’t happen by chance—it happens through hard work, perseverance, and celebrating progress along the way!

Hands-on learning was in full swing in 5th grade at PCE! Our Wildcats participated in a meaningful activity where they squeezed toothpaste out of a tube and then were challenged to put it back into its original container using only toothpicks!

Students quickly discovered that, just like toothpaste, once our words come out, we can’t simply put them back. This hands-on lesson was a powerful reminder that the words we choose have an impact on others. We can apologize, but we cannot take back what has already been said.
We love seeing our teachers create meaningful learning experiences that go beyond academics and help our Wildcats grow into kind, responsible, and thoughtful individuals.
