Hi, I’m Mercedes Brush, owner of The Getaway Spa & Salon!

My journey in the beauty industry started in 2014 when I became a massage therapist. I later became a spray tan technician in 2016 and opened my own salon, The Getaway Spa & Salon, in 2018. Today, I’m proud to have two massage therapists and two cosmetologists working alongside me.

I completed the nail program at ICC in 2018 and became a nail technician because I loved doing my own nails and thought, why not do other people’s too? I’ve always wanted to create a relaxing environment where people feel comfortable, and I’m so proud to have built that for my clients.

One of my biggest challenges has been balancing my schedule, meeting the needs of my clients, and still making time for myself. At the same time, building a loyal clientele, opening my own salon, and creating a business that I’m truly proud of have been some of my greatest accomplishments.

My advice to anyone starting out is simple: Practice makes perfect. Stick with it, believe in yourself and your work, and never be afraid to keep learning.

🎨✨ Hair Color Competition ✨🎨

The creativity, talent, and passion our cosmetology students bring to every challenge never cease to amaze us! For this competition they stepped outside their comfort zones and transformed their ideas into beautiful works of art through color.

Competitions like these build confidence, sharpen skills, and prepare our future cosmetologists for success behind the chair. We are so proud of every student who participated, you all brought your A-game!

Congratulations to our winners, and a huge round of applause to everyone who took the challenge. Keep learning, keep creating, and never stop chasing excellence! 💇‍♀️🌈🏆

Success in cosmetology is not just about creating beautiful hair, nails, or skin. It is also about learning how to build a successful career.

Today, our students completed their Business presentations, taking another important step toward becoming not only talented cosmetologists but confident professionals and future entrepreneurs. From learning customer service and marketing to budgeting, professionalism, and business planning. They have gained skills that will help them thrive long after graduation.
