Today the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed additional cases of New World Screwworm in Texas and a case in Lea County, New Mexico. This brings the total confirmed cases to four in Texas and one in New Mexico. What an awesome day at the Rutherford County Farmers Market celebrating National Beef Month!

If you didn’t stop by for a taste of our taco meat made with locally raised beef, you definitely missed out. The flavor and quality of beef raised right here in our community is hard to beat!

We were also excited to have a few heifers make their first trip to town. They helped visitors learn about the different segments of the beef industry.

A big thank you to everyone who came out, asked questions, supported local agriculture, and helped us celebrate the hardworking cattle producers who keep our communities fed. Supporting local beef means supporting local families, farms, and the future of agriculture in Rutherford County.
