Rapp Center for Education Prepares to Transfer Its Mission After a Decade of Community Impact
Sperryville, Va., July 21, 2026 –
The Board of Directors of Rapp Center for Education (RappCE) has decided to wind down operations and partner with other non-profit organizations in the Piedmont region to carry forward its Workforce Training courses andLifelong Learning classes to continue its mission of “providing residents of Rappahannock County and nearby areas with educational experiences that enhance knowledge, employability, and quality of life to build and sustain a stronger community.” Over the past decade RappCE has served over 700 Workforce Training students who earned certificates in courses ranging from Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, and X-ray Technician to butchery and culinary skills. In parallel, RappCE engaged more than 1,000 Lifelong Learning students who followed their intellectual curiosity into areas ranging from history and geology, to flyfishing and the plays of William Shakespeare, all taught by volunteers. RappCE has met its mission to provide varied educational opportunities to Rappahannock citizens. This demand has evolved, and other regional organizations have greater capacity to meet this shifting need. Therefore, RappCE is working to place our programs and students into organizations better suited to serve a broader regional cohort. RappCE thanks every student who trusted us with their educational journey, every instructor who shared their knowledge, every volunteer who graciously gave their time, and current and former Board members, staff members, and community leaders who helped
build and sustain RappCE throughout its history. RappCE extends a heartfelt “thank you” to every donor, grantor, partner, and supporter who believes educational opportunities in rural Rappahannock County matter.
