11972-0500

Thank You All..researchers historians and Authentic Budo Practioners
I personally know or have had occasion to meet host and personally trained in Japan Okinawa USA for Sixty Years
The Shuri Ryu System was inspired by Traditional Japanese Karate
Trias compiled a system after WWII originally Shorei Goju then 1980 published the comprehensive system with teaching programs as Shuri Ryu
This is an American Style based upon many contact research and collection from Living Masters in Japan and Okinawa
The system in not a koryuha but a parallel creation no different than Shorinryu Isshinryu Uechiryu Gojuryu
Created after WWII
1947-48 Trias established a Dojo and then an organization USKA
These are as legitimate as any other teaching system

Yes you can find issue with public relations and the relationship of people involved.. Trias was and is an American Pioneer and deserves respect
To all the Trias Shuriryu adherents continue the Dream and Goal to teach Budo

My personal experience has given me insight to the political wars and discussion.
We are all in the same boat..
Thank You for listening

Itosu Ankoh [糸洲安恒, 1831-1915]

The Preparation to War for Mineral Resources not found in Japan
Okinawa Population in Compliance with Western Warfare Recruitment

In Oct 1908, Itosu wrote his,

"Ten Precepts (Toudi Jukun) of Karate" to bring its importance to the attention of the
... Ministry of Education, War and Dai Nippon Butokukai. ....*

唐手の十訓
Ten Precepts of Karate*

1. Karate did not develop from Buddhism or Confucianism. In the past the Shorin-ryu school and the Shorei-ryu school were brought to Okinawa from China.
Here it is hidden..
The Chinese Open Hand is Closed to make a Fist ( Ken Fist )
To grab and hold the tools of common Work
The Bo
The Eiku
The Sai
The Tuifa
The K**a
The Nunchaku
Plus *
The Spear and Katana of ths Ajin Aristocratic Familes

Both of these schools have strong points, which I will now mention before there are too many changes:

2. Karate is not merely practiced for your own benefit; it can be used to protect one's family or master.

It is not intended to be used against a single.. A method to Stand Your Ground.. assailant but instead as a way of avoiding a fight should one be confronted by a villain or ruffian.

3. The purpose of karate is to make the muscles and bones hard as rock and to use the hands and legs as spears. If children were to begin training in Tang Te[1] while in elementary school, then they will be well suited* for military service.

* Remember the words attributed to the Duke of Wellington after he defeated Napoleon: "The Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton."

4. Karate cannot be quickly learned. Like a slow moving bull, it eventually travels a thousand miles. If one trains diligently every day, then in three or four years one will come to understand karate.

Those who train in this manner will discover karate.

5. In karate, training of the hands and feet is important, so one must be thoroughly trained on the
makiwara.
The Makiwarapost is an Okinawan Adaption to Zen Mind Meditation.

This is Vital for the Serious Deshi.

In order to do this, drop your shoulders, open your lungs, take hold of your strength, grip the floor with your feet, and sink your energy into your lower abdomen.

Practice using each arm one to two hundred times each day.

6. When one practices the stances of Toudi, be sure to keep your back straight, lower your shoulders, put strength in your legs, stand firmly, and drop your energy into your lower abdomen.

7. Practice each of the techniques of karate repeatedly, the use of which is passed by word of mouth.

Learn the explanations well, and decide when and in what manner to apply them when needed.*

In karate, there are techniques for striking an opponent, as well as for receiving and deflecting an opponent's attack. In addition, there is a secret technique called Toridi, which is a rule passed down orally.

8. You must decide if karate is for your health or to aid your duty.*

9. When you train, do so as if on the battlefield.

* Your eyes should glare, shoulders drop, and body harden. You should always train with intensity and spirit, and in this way you will naturally be ready.

10. One must not overtrain; this will cause you to lose the energy in your lower abdomen and will be harmful to your body.

Your face and eyes will turn red. Train wisely.

In the past, masters of karate have enjoyed long lives.
Karate aids in developing the bones and muscles. It helps the digestion as well as the circulation. If karate should be introduced beginning in the elementary schools, then we will produce many men each capable of defeating ten assailants.

I further believe this can be done by having all students at the Okinawa* Teachers' College practice karate.

In this way, after graduation, they can teach at the elementary schools at which they have been taught. I believe this will be a great benefit to our nation and our military.

It is my hope you will seriously consider my suggestion.

My Friendships.Share this :

You know …… time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.

It seems just yesterday that I was young and embarking on my new life.
Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went.

I know that I lived them all.
I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

However, here it is …… the last quarter of my life and it catches me by surprise.
How did I get here so fast?
Where did the years go and where did my youth go?

I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that I was only on the first quarter and that the fourth quarter was so far off that I could not visualize it or imagine fully what it would be like.

Yet, here it is …… my friends are retired and getting grey - they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me but I see the great change.
They’re not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant …… but like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd become.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day and taking a nap is not a treat anymore. It's mandatory because if I don't of my own free will, I fall asleep where I sit.

And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did. But at least I know that, though I’m on the last quarter and I'm not sure how long it will last, that when it's over on this earth, it's over. A new adventure will begin!

Yes, I have regrets.
( but just a few )
There are things I wish I hadn't done; things I should have done but truly there are many things I'm happy to have been done.

It's all in a lifetime.
So, if you're not on the last quarter yet, let me remind you that it will be here faster than you think.

So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life do it quickly.
Don't put things off too long. Life goes by so quickly.
So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether you're on the last quarter or not.

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of life. So, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember - and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the past years.

‘Life’ is a gift to you.
Be Happy!
Have a great day!
Remember, it is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.
You may think:
Going out is good - but coming home is better!
You forget names - but it's okay because some people forgot they even knew you!
You realize you're never going to be really good at anything like golf - but you like the outdoors!
The things you used to care to do, you aren't as interested in anymore - but you really don't care that you aren't as interested.

You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV on than in bed – you call it ‘pre-sleep’!

You miss the days when everything worked with just an ‘On’ and ‘Off’ switch!
You tend to use more 4 letter words – ‘what’ and ‘when’

You have lots of clothes in your wardrobe, more than half of which you will never wear – but just in case!
( Way Too Many)
Old is good -
• Old is comfortable
• Old is safe
• Old songs
• Old movies
• …… and best of all,

Now this is what i mean..

• Friends of old!
So, stay well, ‘Old friend!’
Don Willis
Don Romard
David Erler
David Keegan
Dave Batchelder

And so many more..
Have a fantastic day!
Have an awesome quarter – whichever one you’re in!
Take care
It's not what you gather but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.
