The Spencer-Van Etten School District is forming a District-Wide School Safety Committee. The purpose of the committee will be to review the current school safety plan. This committee will work with the district administrative team to assess current lockdown, lockout and evacuation drills as well as visitor procedures and community communication. If you are interested in participating on the committee, please contact Carol Quinn at the District Office, 589-7100. The ad hoc committee will meet approximately four times during the spring with at least one meeting during the school day.

Dear Spencer-Van Etten School Community:
You will find on this page information relating to the significant loss of State and Federal Aid the Spencer-Van Etten School district has experienced over the past three years. Also included on this page you will find sample letters and the addresses of state representatives.

Rural and high needs school districts continue to be unfairly targeted by the State Aid formula and the Tax Cap Law. We all agree that New York State residents are over taxed, but rather than actually address the cause of excessive taxation the burden has been shifted to local tax payers while the promised mandate relief has not materialized.

I just signed a petition to The New York State House, The New York State Senate, and Governor Andrew Cuomo: Remove the gap elimination adjustment. Remove the artificial low wealth floor in distributing Foundation Aid that severely penalizes the poorest districts.
