Our Scholastic Book Fair begins, Monday September 21st and runs through Thursday, September 24th until 6:45pm, which is the last night of Student-Led Conferences.

Read an Accurate Ag Book Week in STEAM

Our students celebrated Read an Accurate Ag Book Week by connecting agriculture-themed books to hands-on STEAM learning.

2nd Grade – EmmaLee Clare: A Fly on the Wall of Dad’s Tractor by Burton Harmon
Students learned about tractors and their important role in agriculture. After reading, students became engineers and designed and built their own tractor models, using creativity, construction, and problem-solving skills.

3rd Grade – Grady’s in the Silo by Una Belle Townsend
Students learned about farm life and then took on an engineering challenge: designing a way to rescue a cow from a silo. Students developed, tested, and improved their solutions as they worked to solve the problem.

4th Grade – Wally the Wrangler: Wally Visits a Ranch by Will Jordan
Students learned about cattle branding and how brands are used to identify livestock. They designed their own meaningful and recognizable cattle brands and then constructed them using pipe cleaners. Students tested their designs to see if others could recreate and recognize their brands.

The first quarter of school is moving right along! Please contact your student(s)' teacher(s) to set up a time for Student-Led Conferences!!!

Conferences will begin the week of September 21st. Evening conferences can be scheduled Tuesday, the 22nd or Thursday, the 23rd after school hours from 4pm to 6:45pm.

Families are encouraged to bring their student(s)!

We will also have the Scholastic Book Fair this week in the school library!!! 🐆💙💛🏫📚

No school on Friday, September 25th!! 🎉🎉

Make sure to get plenty of sleep the next few nights, come to school on time each day, and eat a great breakfast! Spencer Elementary-OKCPS Jaguars are going to ROAR through the NWEA testing this week! 💙💛🐆💯

What is NWEA MAP Growth Testing? 🤔

NWEA MAP Growth is an assessment that OKCPS students take in reading and math. Students take MAP Growth three times each year: August, January and April.

How Can Families Help?
- Getting a good night’s sleep
- Eating a healthy breakfast; OKCPS provides free breakfast
- Arriving to school on time
- No special studying needed

Your student’s school will provide specific dates and you will learn more about your student’s results during conferences in September.
