LIFT Discipleship Program

LIFT Discipleship Program Leaders in Further Training (LIFT) is a year-long discipleship program for young adults who want to embrace connection with God, others, and their calling.

WHAT IS LIFT? LIFT ("Leaders In Further Training") is a unique, year-long discipleship program operated by CAMP-of-the-WOODS, a Christian family resort in New York's Adirondack Mountains. LIFT exists to train young leaders to become faithful ambassadors of Jesus Christ in accordance with their unique gifts and calling. LIFT equips students to think through critical issues of life and culture from

a profoundly Christian perspective. Students also learn servant-leadership through weekly service projects. A variety of outdoor adventures in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains are an intentional aspect of our leadership and discipleship training. Local, urban, and international missions trips happen throughout the year as well. We bring in superb guest teachers who are experts in their fields, to teach intensive one-week courses on various topics such as cultural apologetics, spiritual life, and ethics.

As summer comes to a close, so does LIFT 49's summer Leadership Practicum. Here's where some of our LIFT students plan to head after a year of intentional discipleship!

Please join us in praying for these students as they take what they've learned and apply it here in our COTW Internship Program, or in their schools, homes, and workplaces. 🙏

The most important leadership happening this summer isn't always the most visible.

Before LIFT students lead by serving in their departments, they're gathering around God's Word with their summer staff teams—opening Scripture, praying together, and learning what it looks like to faithfully follow Christ.

But they aren't only pouring into others.

Throughout the summer, they also gather to open God's Word, ask honest questions, encourage one another, and be challenged in their own walk with Christ.

These moments of accountability remind them that the best leaders never stop being disciples. They remain teachable, rooted in Scripture, and willing to let others speak into their lives.

If that kind of intentional growth is what you're looking for, there are still a few spots available in next year's LIFT class. Learn more and apply here: cotw.org/lift

🧗‍♂️As the spring semester of LIFT is nearing its end, LIFT 49 spent a day of fellowship at Moss Island enjoying one of their last adventures together.

While they scaled the cliffs and took in the beauty of God’s creation, they reflected on their shared journey as a class. For LIFT 49, this year has been full of laughter, challenges, discipleship, and learning what it looks like to trust the Lord in a unique season of life.

Please be in prayer for LIFT 49 as they start the transition into their summer leadership practicum!☀️

LIFT 49's mission trip to Guatemala with SI (Student’s International) is in full swing!

Since arriving, the LIFTers have been fully embracing life there by getting to know the lifestyle, the rhythms, and the team at SI who have given them such a warm welcome.

Giullia shared that each day has been “filled with new experiences, learning opportunities, and time spent with the wonderful people here.” Her assignment is with the Women’s Social Work site in San Miguel, where she and her team spent time with both kids and women. There, they are helping with bracelet-making, sewing projects, and various odd projects that give them the chance to get to know the women better.

One moment that stuck with Giullia was watching the kids receive the money they earned from their bracelets. She said, “the pride and look of accomplishment on their faces was amazing to see.” It’s been those kinds of moments that have stayed with the team.

LIFT 49 sang their traditional song, "Let Us Adore" before leaving for their Guatemala mission trip at 2:00 AM. We asked them what they're excited for and here's what some of them said:

Lauren: "I’m really looking forward to developing relationships with the staff and children at Students International and connecting with them over the sports we love! I’m most excited to be immersed in a new culture and learn all the different things from the people in Guatemala. To practice what they practice, go at their pace, and attempt a new language as much as I can!"

Caris: "I am at the child sponsorship site. I'm very excited to work with kids! They have such curiosity and energy that brings me so much joy! I hope to build relationships and share Christ's love. I am most excited to build a relationship with my host mama Marta! I'm so excited to have meals with our host families and bond with them!"

Jack: "I am the most excited about the new culture. I've never been outside the U.S. in my life, and I'm looking forward to my first time."

Alena: "Working with the kids! I'm excited to just spend time with them, working through homework or playing with them, and all the while learning alongside them. I'm excited to see how much God teaches me about His kingdom in other cultures. I want to be able to see and experience how those in Guatemala worship Him and where I can be inspired by and learn from them."

🙏 Join us in praying for this LIFT class as they deepen their understanding of what it means to live "on mission" as disciples of Christ.

LIFT served at Capital City Rescue Mission (CCRM) recently, and Daniel from LIFT 49 put it like this:
“At the start of the day, I felt a lot of joy just getting the chance to serve at CCRM. When our leader, Hope, walked us through the schedule and what we’d be doing, it gave me a lot of confidence going into everything.”

He talked about how being there with other LIFTers made a difference. “It's always exciting to work alongside LIFTers because we are accustomed to serving so often together, and we are committed to diligence. It also made me more comfortable having so many people I knew at the ministry.”

One moment in the midst of serving stayed with him more than the rest: “When we sang in the chapel service before dinner, it was so encouraging to see some of the residents participating and being blessed by the worship.”

In reflection of their time there, Daniel noted, “It felt like we received more than we gave in some ways. We did some work projects in the morning, but we knocked them out pretty quickly. I left the ministry with confidence that CCRM is fulfilling the Great Commission.”

Girls Night happened this past week, and the guys made sure it was memorable for the girls of LIFT 49! 🎉

For Hage and Nathan, Girls Night felt like a meaningful opportunity to give something back to the community of girls who’ve meant a lot to them this year. From the beginning, they wanted to create an evening the girls would genuinely enjoy and feel cared for through.

When thinking about moments from the night that stood out to them, Hage recalled, "It just felt like celebrating our sisters, girls who have pushed us, supported us, and loved us this year. That was probably the most rewarding moment, just seeing that joy in all its different forms." In the same vein, Nathan said, "Seeing it all come together, from the song requests, to the band practicing, to the girls singing and dancing along, was just so cool. Every minute of it, the girls’ smiles, the fun, made it all worth it."

Moments like these are what makes LIFT what it is— brothers and sisters in Christ showing up for each other through acts of heartfelt service. ♥️
