For one exciting week, Spartanburg Community College welcomed middle and high school students to campus for AFA CyberCamp, where they explored the world of cybersecurity through hands-on learning and real-world challenges.

As part of the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Education Program, campers gained valuable skills in cyber safety, digital defense, and technology while discovering potential career pathways in one of today's fastest-growing fields.

What made this camp even more special? Our instructors were members of the SCC Cyber Chasers and SCC Cybersecurity Club, who shared their knowledge and passion for cybersecurity with the next generation of cyber defenders.

Spartanburg Community College was proud to partner with the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics to host GoSciTech Camp for rising 6th–8th grade students.

Campers explored exciting STEM fields through interactive experiences in Game Design, Engineering, and Pre-Med Biology while also getting a firsthand look at career pathways in Radiology, Surgical Technology, Pre-Engineering, and Medical Laboratory Technology.

From building new skills to imagining future careers, these students embraced every opportunity to learn, create, and explore. We loved welcoming the next generation of innovators to SCC and can't wait to see where their curiosity takes them!

Congratulations to Dr. Kenneth Gardner, SCC Cybersecurity and Networking Instructor, on being selected for the NCyTE Cybersecurity Faculty Externship Program for Summer 2026!

Through this opportunity, Dr. Gardner will gain firsthand experience with cybersecurity operations and intelligence at SLED and SCCIC, bringing valuable industry knowledge back to the classroom to further enhance student learning and workforce preparation.
