Spartanburg Area Citadel Club

We were honored last month to have The Citadel's Athletic Director Art Chase and a delegation from the Brigadier Foundation stop in Spartanburg and speak with us last month before the Bulldogs played at Gardner Webb. It was fascinating to hear about the NIL landscape in college football!

We were honored to have the Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina Pamela Evette speak with us last night. She shared her story of moving from a private business owner into politics, as well as some of the great things going on in South Carolina that ya don't always hear about in the news!

Good luck to The Citadel's Class of 2029 as today is matriculation day for them! We got together with some our local Spartanburg future cadets to wish them well and provide some advice earlier this summer, however I'm not sure if there is anything that can prepare you for today.

As the weather is heating up in the Upstate of South Carolina, we reflect back on a great year for the club. We achieved Gold Stars from the Alumni Association for the 5th year in a row - a special thanks to our club leadership, Claude Saleeby (71) and Rick Higgins (86) as well as many other local alumni.

This past year we enjoyed monthly meetings and special events - from author John Warley (67), to the tailgating at The Citadel vs Wofford football game, the admissions office coming up to meet with prospective k***s, and the Brigadier's Foundations Jonathan Walker keeping us up-to-date at our annual Muster.

We were honored to host Col. Tom Gordon (91), The Citadel Commandant of Cadets, the Citadel Admissions Office, and future Citadel cadets to the Piedmont Club in downtown Spartanburg. Go Bulldogs!

Despite the cold, we are glad to have The Citadel’s Basketball 🏀 team in Spartanburg tonight! Go Bulldogs!

Our only scheduled event for December will be our food drive for TOTAL MINISTRIES and those dates are December 4, 5 and 6TH and we’ll do like last year where there will be a drop off tent at my office and you can come by and leave your donations. Last year, we had around 1000 pounds of supplies! Let’s beat that total this year!

The Spartanburg Area Citadel Club's tailgate at The Citadel vs Wofford football game will begin at 11:00 AM on November 16. The cost is $20/person, which includes the bar, but donations toward the cost of the bar will also be accepted. The tailgate will be held on the visitor's side of Gibbs Stadium, entering off Pine Street next to the Starbucks.

The club enjoyed getting together to celebrate the Spartanburg Area incoming Citadel Class of 2028, as they enjoy their summer and report to Charleston in August.

Special thanks to our current Citadel cadets from the area, who gave great advice to the incoming k***s.
