Oakbrook Preparatory School

Oakbrook Preparatory School Thanks to others joining Mrs. Moore (our founder) and inspiring others, the school grew while carrying on the original Charlotte Mason philosophy.

Committed to delivering a Christ-centered, inter-denominational, college-preparatory education that nurtures the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—for students in K3 through 12th grade. Opening in 1992 as the Village School, the school and mission grew until a major expansion in 2002 extended the curriculum to 3K-12 and Oakbrook Preparatory School emerged. As a non-denominational school, Oakbrook

Prep strives to develop innovative thinkers and leaders for the 21st century. Students are also encouraged to learn through international exchange programs. Oakbrook Prep does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, national or ethnic origin, or religion.

Today in chapel, Coach Roberts shared a simple but meaningful message from John 15:5: Be the branch.

Jesus is the Vine, and we are the branches. When we abide in Him—spending time in His Word and allowing Him to shape our lives—we bear fruit that is meant to be shared with others.

Coach Roberts challenged us to spend at least five minutes in God’s Word each day and then make an intentional connection with someone who may need encouragement. What a difference it could make if we began each day connected to Jesus and carried His love, joy, patience and kindness into our relationships with others!

We are so thankful for this special time of worship and for the opportunity to see our students growing in their relationships with God and within our community. A special shoutout to our amazing chapel band for leading us in worship!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom… letter hunt!

Our K4 friends have been reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, so they took their learning outside the classroom for a letter scavenger hunt around Oakbrook! They searched high and low for letters hiding all around campus while practicing their letter recognition skills.

Learning is always more fun when it becomes an adventure!

An Unexpected Visitor at Oakbrook!

We had a little wildlife emergency on the soccer field today when an owl found himself tangled in our soccer net! Thanks to the help of Kristen Powers from Kristen’s Animal Rescue and Officer Hayes, he was carefully cut free and taken to the vet to get checked out. We’re so thankful for everyone who jumped in to help!

Did you know that owls are territorial? Once our little visitor is feeling all better, Kristen will bring him back to his home here at Oakbrook and release him back into the wild.

And now we have to ask… should we become the Fighting Owls?

Our first graders took their Human Body unit to the next level with a classroom transformation into a real-life hospital!

Dressed in hospital gowns, caps, masks, and gloves, our little doctors got to work in the “operating room” repairing bones by matching addition facts, identifying beginning sounds of body parts for patient charts, and retrieving organs to place correctly on child-sized bodies.

Learning really comes to life when you can see it, touch it, and play the part!
