🌻🐝 What a fantastic day at the USC Upstate Food Forest!

As part of this week’s Environmental Education Association of South Carolina conference, we had the opportunity to host The Xerces Society Bumble Bee Atlas training right here on campus. Participants got hands-on experience learning how to identify bumblebee species, collect data, and contribute to community science efforts that are critical for pollinator conservation.

The Food Forest provided the perfect living lab to highlight the importance of habitat, biodiversity, and stewardship in our own communities.

Grateful to be part of a network that continues to champion this work and inspire action across South Carolina. 🌎💛

We had a wonderful day talking with about 300 of our community members at Discover Your Watershed!

Celebrate National Trails Day this Saturday with 4 local organizations! Choose your adventure!

National Trails Day is just around the corner on Saturday, June 6! Join your friends from SPACE, PAL: Play Advocate Live Well , Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful , and The Local Hiker and celebrate your favorite local trails by helping with stewardship! Volunteers will meet at the River Birch Trailhead across from Fernwood Pool at 9:00 a.m. Choose your own adventure and pick between: Team litter sweep, Team river sweep, or Team removing invasive plants! Then join us for an after-party at The Local Hiker ! Trails Day volunteers may receive their first bev on the house! 🌿🍻

The Carolina Fence™ is an SCWF habitat garden concept that blends South Carolina’s natural and cultural heritage. Using a traditional split‑rail fence, native plants, and state symbols, the Carolina Fence provides food, cover, and nesting opportunities for wildlife while showcasing state pride and stewardship values.
