A new chapter is taking shape in Cherokee County. Spartanburg Community College was proud to join community, business and government leaders in welcoming USA Rare Earth to Blacksburg as the company broke ground on its new facility.

With an approximately $1.2 billion investment and nearly 500 skilled manufacturing jobs expected, this project represents new opportunities for individuals, families and communities across the region.

SCC is proud to partner with USA Rare Earth to help build the skilled talent pipeline needed for these careers and support the continued growth of Cherokee County.

We were also honored to receive a $250,000 donation from USA Rare Earth in support of the College. We are grateful for their investment in SCC and their commitment to our community.

Together, we’re creating pathways to opportunity and helping ensure that our region’s workforce is ready for what’s next.

Our Tyger River Campus and Spark Center were full of enthusiasm and energy as we welcomed students, faculty, and staff for the Fall 2026 semester!

It was also a pleasure to have Sheriff Bill Rhyne and staff stop by to visit with us as we discussed future opportunities for collaboration and thanked them for their continued partnership and service to our community.
