Today, we celebrate the hardworking men and women who dedicate their lives to agriculture. From the early mornings and late nights to the long days in the fields and the care given to livestock, farming is more than a job...it’s a way of life.

Farmers are the backbone of our communities, providing the food, fiber, and resources we depend on every single day. Their hard work, resilience, and commitment to caring for the land help feed our families, strengthen our local economy, and shape the future of agriculture.

Here at UT-TSU Extension, White County, we are proud to serve and support the farmers who do so much for our community. Today and every day, we are grateful for your dedication, your sacrifices, and your passion for agriculture. 🌱

Today is Giving Tuesday for National 4-H Week in White County! We will be taking donations online for our county 4-H program starting at 8:00 AM CST.
The funds raised from the Giving Tuesday campaign will go towards educational trips, judging team competitions, 4-H programming materials, and scholarships for 4-H camps and conferences.

A little late posting, but a BIG congratulations to our White County 4-H’ers who competed in the Central Region Poultry Judging Contest last Thursday!

🏆 Our Junior Team placed 9th overall!

🥇 Senior member Hunter Rigsby placed 1st Overall Individual!

We are so proud of all of our 4-H’ers and the hard work they put into preparing for this contest. Congratulations!

Calling all beef producers! Our next meeting will be October 6, 2026 at 6pm, at the White County Agricultural Building located at 565 Hale Street, Sparta, TN 38583. The meeting topic will be Retaining VS Buying. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Tuesday, October 6th, starting at 6pm, the Upper Cumberland Extension Team is hosting our Beef Summit at the White County Fairgrounds at 565 Hale St in Sparta. Our speaker for the event is David Bilderback from UT’s Center of Farm Management and he will be talking about retaining vs. buying heifers in your herd. Come out to our Air R***e Interest Meeting next Tuesday at 4:00 PM and give it a try!

This is a great chance to learn more about the 4-H Shooting Sports program, try out air r***e, and see if it’s something you’d like to be a part of.

No experience needed—just come out and give it a shot!

A huge THANK YOU to all of our bidders, buyers, and supporters who came out for our 4-H Chick Chain Sale Thursday night!

We sold 26 pens of quality laying hens, and every dollar went directly back to the 4-H members who worked hard raising and caring for their birds throughout the project.

A special thank you to our judge, auctioneer, and everyone who helped behind the scenes to make the sale possible. It takes a lot of helping hands to make an event like this happen, and we truly appreciate each of you!

We are so thankful for a community that continues to show up and support our 4-H youth!

Chick Chain Auction this Thursday!

We will have at least 24 pens of hens up for auction! Come out and support our 4-H’ers while taking home some quality laying hens for your flock.
