​This past weekend, we took our Officer Development Leadership Retreat deep into "Bear Country" (Roscoe, NY) for a weekend of intense perspective, growth, and team alignment. 🌲

​We used the controversial, high-stakes history of the Pepacton Reservoir to anchor our discussions on:

What an incredible weekend in Roscoe, NY! We just wrapped up our Officer Development Leadership Retreat, and the energy, discussions, and brotherhood were unmatched. 🌲🔥
​We set up basecamp at the Berry Brook Getaway, toured the Roscoe Fire Museum, hiked the Shavertown Trail, and stood at the base of the massive Downsville Dam & discussed the Battle of Downs Brook. But this wasn’t just a weekend getaway—it was a deep dive into what it truly means to lead.

​Using the historic mid-20th-century "War for Water" and the construction of the Pepacton Reservoir as our framework, we challenged our officers to think about:
Weighing the needs of the many vs. the few.
​Protecting organizational integrity (just like the dam holds back billions of gallons of water).
​Honoring the "heritage" of our teams while aggressively moving forward into the future.

​Between the field discussions, the historical excursion detailing the Battle of Downs Brook, and the late-night campfire debriefs, these leaders put in the work.

Special thanks to everyone who brought their "all hands on deck" attitude to the team meals and logistics!

** Back to Basics—and Beyond! 🚒
Earlier this week, the we had a great time working with the members of the **Secaucus Fire Department**.
We spent the evening diving into our **"Managing Everyday Incidents"** curriculum. While the "big ones" get the headlines, the high-frequency, low-acuity calls are where we spend most of our time. Mastering the fundamentals of scene size-up, resource management, and crew safety on these routine runs ensures we are always ready when the stakes get higher.
A huge thank you to the SFD members for their professionalism, engagement, and commitment to sharpening their skills. It’s always a privilege to train with brothers and sisters who are dedicated to providing the best possible service to their community.
