Dear BRDD Alumni Families,
For more than 12 years, Blue Ridge Developmental Day has been part of the first chapter for so many children in Alleghany County.
For many families, BRDD was the place where tiny hands were held, first friendships were made, nervous goodbyes became confident mornings, and children were loved through some of their most important early years. We have had the privilege of watching children grow from babies and toddlers into preschoolers ready for their next step—and many of those children are now walking through school hallways, playing sports, helping in their communities, and growing into the young people we always knew they could become.
If your child was once part of BRDD, then your family will always be part of our story.
Today, we are asking our alumni families to help make sure BRDD remains here for the next generation of children who need the same safe, nurturing, high-quality beginning.
Like many childcare programs across North Carolina, BRDD is facing the difficult reality of rising costs, staffing challenges, and tuition revenue that does not fully cover the true cost of quality care. As a nonprofit center, our goal has never been making money. Our goal has always been children—making sure they are known, loved, challenged, encouraged, and prepared for what comes next.
That is why we are launching the BRDD Alumni Challenge.
We are inviting former BRDD families to become monthly supporters. A gift of $25, $50, $100, or any amount meaningful to your family will help us continue providing the care, consistency, and early learning foundation that so many children have received at BRDD.
Our first goal is 50 alumni families giving an average of $50 per month. Together, that would provide $2,500 each month—or $30,000 each year—to help sustain quality childcare in Alleghany County. Reaching this milestone would create a dependable foundation of support that BRDD can continue building upon.
If BRDD was part of your child’s beginning, we hope you will help us be here for the children who are just beginning now. Your support is more than a donation. It is a way of saying that the place that helped your child grow still matters—and that the children coming behind them deserve the same opportunity.
