Another transport complete.....although this one was proof that things don't always go as planned. We picked up Ace in Aiken, SC and bound for Prior Lake, MN. She is a super sweet, honest girl. Got to our next location to pick up the other 3 and got on the road. About 6 and a half hours into the trip, the trailer moved hard. We thought we blew a tire. Checked the cameras and saw Ace was acting strange. Got pulled over safely and went back to check on her. Instantly, I knew we needed a vet. I called the owner and told her by the grace of God, we were just outside of Lexington. Got a hold of Park Equine Hospital in Lexington and they were ready for us when we got there. Diagnoses was gas colic. Ace spent the night at the hospital being closely monitored. The other 3 got a nice, cushy paddock. The next day, the owner, Dr. Wood and I decided it was best that Ace stay one more night. We took 2 of the others to their destination in Indiana and came back to Lexington. I checked in on Ace frequently at the hospital and made sure to send her owner updates and pictures. On the 2nd day, Dr. Wood determined that she was good to go for the rest of the trip. From Lexington, we traveled to our home base in Sparta, Wi for another layover. Ace did amazing! This morning, we made the rest of the trip to Prior Lake. Ace was the biggest sweetheart through all of this and I can't wait to see everything her and her new mom do together. Thank you to my team driver for getting all the horses and I to the destinations safely and taking care of Delroy and the rig while I handled the horses. Thank you Dr. Wood and staff at Park Equine for the most amazing care. And the biggest thank you to Kaniah Whitehorn Konkoly-Thege for trusting us with the transport and care of Ace.
