All Creatures Great and Small. . . Before we recap how our FIRST Wisconsin Saturday Seven Rivers District Competition went, we, Sparta Robotans FIRST Robotics Team 8024 , would like to give another huge Shout Out and Thank You to Dr. Terry (no, not James Herriot) from the Sparta Small Animal Veterinary Clinic for showing up and taking some time to learn a little more about what one of his employees gets up to when he's not hard at work and wears his 7 Rivers Robotics Coalition Team hat instead. We appreciate the time you took out of your day to visit us in our FIRST Robotics Competition Team Pit in La Crosse. Thank you for sharing some of our day with us! 🙂

Before digging into how our day is going we, Sparta Robotans FIRST Robotics Team 8024, would like to give a huge Shout Out and Thank You to Spartek, Inc for taking time out of their day yesterday and visiting us in the FIRST Wisconsin Seven Rivers District Competition Pit! We appreciate your years of support for STEM and love the true interest you show for all we have accomplished from our very beginning until now!
Katie Randall, we loved meeting you and your family, it is amazing to see where our skills might take us and what women in STEM can achieve! Thank you for sharing part of your day with our 7 Rivers Robotics Coalition Team at our FIRST Robotics Competition in La Crosse! 🙂

Sparta Robotans FIRST Robotics Team 8024 . . . Day 1 Qualifiers:

Error 404. . . Starting a day on the wrong side of the bed is a never a good sign. When your FIRST Robotics Competition bot decides it wants to start its day on the wrong side of the Seven Rivers District Competiton and knows misery loves company? Things for our 7 Rivers Robotics Coalition team started a bit iffy and required major negotiations when Sparky decided that errors would make a FIRST Wisconsin hometown competition even more exciting than simply having our families, friends, and supporters here. A broken intake after we just finished designing and installing it? Who needs to shoot fuel when we are Amazeballs at defense anyway? Pro tip? Don't (no, really Do Not) ask the universe that because if you do. . . Your swerve drive *might* break. And Then? You *may* lose a track off a wheel or two. Hint: the wheels on the bot will *not* go round and round. Too easy you say? How about your bolts come loose and leave to go find themselves? If that's not enough? When we fix *all* those issues just to find ourselves stranded, stuck high and dry on the very fuel that we weren't bothering from the start? And we're only sharing the highlights. . .

Round 2. Ready? Fight!. . . Maybe? It may have been a bit more of a fight than we planned. While the qualifying matches are usually the biggest Boss fight we have, today was a little different, forcing us to dig even deeper into our toolboxes when Sparky decided to be a mini boss level on their own. Life in the Pits was making sure we were ready to take on whatever new cheat code Sparky came up with to boycott the competition field, testing our ability to pivot and still remain in the game.

Loading. . . Fun Fact: Never bring code and a computer to a parts and toolbox problem. Some tune ups (read: loctite and repaired power cables) combined with strategy changes (racing slicks, and a Senior dominated Squad at one point because they fix everything) and we were finally ready to take on the rest of the competition! A rotation of teammates onto the drive team who haven't been on the field before, allowed them to visibly help out instead of supporting us from behind the scenes, like they usually do, in the stands and pits by scouting and cheering us on.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow as we discover what adventures it has in store for us!

Gracious Professionalism? ✔️
Sportsmanship? ✔️
Persistence? ✔️
Dedication? ✔️
Suspense? ✔️
Fuel flying? ✔️
Robots doing what robots do? ✔️
Drivers that could teach derby cars a thing or two? ✔️

A hard fought match that saw the Rockin' Red Alliance work hard for their win means our Bodacious Blues have completed this adventure in the FIRST Robotics Competition AGE at Lakeland.

Blue was definitely not a bad color for us as we finished up the weekend on Alliance Team 4. We would like to thank Ripon Robotics FRC Team 7915 and IgKnightion 4021 for including us in their plans for a championship run. Your sportsmanship and gracious professionalism made it an honor to journey alongside you. We'll be your wingman anytime. . . 😉🤠

We would like to wish both of your Teams the best of luck as the season continues and we hope to see everyone in the 7 Rivers Robotics Coalition area at the La Crosse, WI District Event 2-4 April 2026.

Round 2 - Match 5 at FIRST Wisconsin Lakeland saw Alliance 4 come out strong. With a decisive win, Ripon Robotics FRC Team 7915, IgKnightion 4021, and Sparta Robotans FIRST Robotics Team 8024 are still in the Playoffs. . .

A close match saw FIRST Wisconsin Alliance Team 4 take the field where Ripon Robotics FRC Team 7915, IgKnightion 4021, and the Sparta High School Sparta Robotans FIRST Robotics Team 8024 had a strong showing but fell a little short. Stay with us as we enter Round 2 and see what we can shake up in the Lower Bracket!

FIRST Robotics Competition FIRST Wisconsin Lakeland District Final Alliance selections are complete. 😎
We finished up ranked 21st in the standings, watched the first round of Alliance selections take place for Teams 1-8, and then waited to see what happened as the selection process reversed and Teams 8-1 made their selections.
We are proud to announce that we have been chosen for Alliance Team 4 and will be entering the field of coopertition with Ripon Robotics FRC Team 7915 and 7 Rivers Robotics Coalition team IgKnightion 4021.
We look forward to seeing what the Finals have in store! 🤖🎉
