Many have been wondering…”Who is that voice behind the morning announcements?”

Well it’s Ms. Anna and 5th grade students.

Each morning she has the opportunity to start our day with a little encouragement, positivity, and a challenge to help set the tone for our students and staff.

It only may be a few words over the intercom, but she believes how we start our day at Cook Elementary matters.

So when you hear that voice in the morning reminding everyone to challenge yourself, encourage others, and never stop growing, now you know….it’s Ms. Anna! 🎤

Raegan Giddens has been practicing her reading stamina since the 1st day of school with this 271 page novel. Mrs. Heather Lindsey’s class is so proud of her persistence. She said her favorite part of the book was on a page that had no pictures and ‘the pig was floating in the air’ and she pictured that in her mind. 🧠

Mrs. Cassey Folsom's 5th-grade ELA class got a good "taste" of what they will be learning about in their first ELA Benchmark unit! Students were excited to snack on some corn-flavored snacks while asking questions before, during, and after their reading of the "Structure of Corn" text!

Students in Mrs. Carla Brown’s 4th grade ELA class participated in a “gallery walk” as a way to preview their vocabulary words for the upcoming unit in Benchmark Advance. Students walked around the room, studied the images, and recorded key words to complete the definition of the words. Thanks to Miss Peytyn Williams for sharing this fun way to learn new words! ✏️

Today in class, Ms. Peytyn William’s 4th grade class solved “The Great Garbage Can Mystery!” They used clues and their prior knowledge to form an inference about which teacher the trash cans belonged to. We had some amazing detectives! 🔍
