Our JAG students recently participated in Mock Interviews and absolutely crushed it! 👏💼A huge thank you to all of the community members and volunteers who took the time to interview, encourage, and invest in our students. These real-world experiences help build confidence, professionalism, and career readiness for their futures!

It was also extra special to have JAG alum Carson (Mrs. Howard's son) join us as one of our interviewers! Seeing former students come back and pour into the next generation is pretty incredible. We’re so proud of him and thankful for his willingness to give back while representing Chipotle Mexican Grill!

So proud of our students for stepping outside their comfort zones and showing up strong! 💙

Our JAG students recently attended the annual Career Development Conference in Las Vegas! Students competed in a variety of events including employability skills- job interviewing, public speaking, and JAG Tank and represented our school and program with confidence, professionalism, and pride.

A special shoutout to Brooklyn, our Northern Nevada JAG State Historian, who helped host the event and did an incredible job leading and representing at a higher level 👏

We are so proud of every single student who competed. Your hard work, courage, and growth truly showed. HUGE congratulations to all of you for doing such an amazing job in your events. You represented us in the best way possible! 💜

Recently our students had the opportunity to hear from Kinross and learn what modern mining really looks like here in Nevada. ✨ From safety practices to the wide range of careers within the industry, students were fully engaged and asked great questions throughout the presentation. It was exciting to see their curiosity grow as they learned how mining supports communities and offers real career pathways. Experiences like this help connect classroom learning to the real world and open students’ eyes to opportunities they may not have considered before.

Eggs were dropped and teamwork was put to the test. 💥 Our JAG students designed and built contraptions with limited supplies, making smart budgeting decisions along the way. They then watched their plans come to life as they tested which designs held up under pressure. 🥚 This challenge pushed students to communicate, think creatively, and problem solve while working within real constraints. Hands on lessons like this help students see how planning, budgeting, and teamwork connect directly to real world skills.

Today the Spanish Springs HS JAG students spent the class period spreading a little love throughout our community. Students created thoughtful handmade greeting cards filled with well wishes for the Thanksgiving holiday. These cards will be delivered to seniors in an assisted living facility where one of our JAG students works. It was a simple project that reminded us how meaningful small acts of kindness can be. ❤️

This week our JAG students had the opportunity to hear from Taylor and Carly with Waste Management (now WM) about recycling in our community, the company’s sustainability efforts, and the many career opportunities within WM.

They also shared valuable, real-world tips on how to apply for jobs and stand out as strong candidates.

After the presentation, students put their new knowledge to the test by sorting items into the correct bins labeled compost, recycle, trash, and special disposal.

Fun fact: One of Northern Nevada’s biggest recycling challenges is plastic film, such as grocery bags, being placed in single-stream bins. These materials clog recycling machinery and cause shutdowns, so remember to keep them out of your recycle bin.

Thank you again to WM for your time, insight, and inspiration. Our students left informed, motivated, and ready to make a difference.

We appreciate your time, insight, and support of our program, it truly makes a difference!

We proudly hosted our 2025–2026 Initiation & Installation Ceremony on Tuesday, October 28th in the theatre at Spanish Springs High School. During the event, students were officially inducted into the JAG program and celebrated. 🎉

After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed snacks, sweet treats, and time together as a JAG family. A huge congratulations to our newly elected officers for showing courage, confidence, and leadership on stage. We are so proud of each of you and can’t wait to see the amazing things you’ll accomplish this year.

A special thank you to Mena Spodobalski with Evoke Fitness for sharing her incredible story and inspiring message with our JAG students. Your words truly made an impact. 💜

We also want to thank Grocery Outlet for their generous donation of waters!! And finally we’d like to thank our amazing parents, families, and friends for supporting their students and helping make this night so special. Your encouragement means the world to us! ✨

Last night, Spanish Springs hosted one of the best community Halloween events, Trick or Treat in the Halls! This annual fundraiser is not only a blast to attend but also such a fun one to host.
Our JAG students ran The Price is Right booth, featuring Plinko and Ring Toss, sold waters, played games with families, and represented our program with pride.

Along the way, they learned valuable lessons about teamwork, communication, and community service.

We’re already counting down the days until we get to do it all again next year!
