Our 3rd Year Industrial Sheet Metal Apprentices recently took a project from shop drawing to finished build.

Using the workbench drawing developed for the project, apprentices laid out, cut, fit, welded, assembled, and finished a mobile student workbench that will now be put to use in our training facility.

Projects like this give apprentices the opportunity to apply print reading, layout, fabrication, welding, and problem-solving skills to something they can see, use, and take pride in.

We were proud to welcome Lawrence Booth, President & CEO of Frank M. Booth, Inc., to the Northern Nevada Sheet Metal & HVAC Apprenticeship training center this week.

It was a great opportunity to tour our facility, discuss the future of architectural sheet metal work in Northern Nevada, and explore how training and industry collaboration can help grow opportunities for our members and contractors.

We’re excited about the work ahead as we continue developing training focused on architectural and commercial sheet metal skills, helping prepare our members for high-quality, specialized work in our market.

We recently had the opportunity to meet with
D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal at the Northern Nevada Sheet Metal & HVAC Apprenticeship Training Center to discuss training, workforce development, and future opportunities for our members.

Representing D & D were Jason Glines, VP/Operations Manager, and Adam Subia, Shop Foreman, along with staff from the JATC and SMART Local 26.

Our conversation focused on how the JATC, SMART Local 26, and our signatory contractors can work together to develop training that meets the evolving needs of the industry, strengthens the skills contractors need in the field, and prepares our members for upcoming opportunities.

We appreciate Jason, Adam, and the D & D team for taking the time to meet with us, share their experience, and provide valuable input as we continue developing our upcoming night and upgrade classes.

Strong contractor partnerships help ensure our training remains relevant, practical, and connected to real-world opportunities in the industry.

We look forward to continuing to work together to build a stronger workforce and a stronger future for our members and contractors.
