Have you found this to be true? Did special education provide answers and support?

"The school had determined that Matthew has a reading disability. Dyslexia. And under federal law, kids with reading disabilities who are behind in school are entitled to get special support and monitoring. Missy had been doing a lot of reading on her own about dyslexia. She was glad that Matthew had been put in special education. She thought – finally, I’m gonna get some answers about what’s going on and how to help him."

I, along with millions of other young people, am proof that the ‘whole language’ approach to reading will never work for every child. Only programs based on the science of reading will work for EVERY child.
Exposure to books does not teach a child how to read.
Don’t leave reading to chance!
