Every Record Tells a Story:
Meet Your Ancestors Workshop Thurs, Aug 27, 10:00 am - noon

Ever picked up an old family photograph and wondered, *Who are these people?*

That's exactly what happened when I found a vintage photograph in an antique shop. At first, I thought identifying everyone would be simple, especially because someone had written a key on the back with the names of the people in the photo.

Easy... right? Not exactly.

Some of the names created more questions than answers. A few details didn't quite add up, and one label simply read, "Ray's Twins."

So how do you identify the people in a photograph like this without making assumptions that send your research in the wrong direction?

In this video, I'll take you through my entire research process, showing you how I built context, evaluated clues, and followed the evidence instead of jumping to conclusions. You'll also see how this mystery photograph became a great reminder of the importance of careful, methodical genealogy research.

I had so much fun researching this one, and I hope it gives you a few new ideas the next time you come across a mystery photo in your own family history.

“One Great Work!” Preparing to Use Family History as a Finding Tool on Your Mission
The Spiritual Foundation & MTC Readiness of Family History

This workshop is designed to equip prospective missionaries with the doctrinal and practical tools needed for the mission field. It will focus on the spiritual foundation of gathering Israel on both sides of the veil, emphasizing the critical link between family history and convert retention. Students will get a brief tour of FamilySearch and complete their pre-MTC requirements, including Church Account verification and the completion of their four-generation pedigree chart, ensuring they are administratively and spiritually prepared for their service.

They will also go over how to tap into the spiritual power of missionary finding and retention through the FamilySearch Tree app. Prospective missionaries will gain hands-on experience with digital discovery tools to create instant spiritual connections and invite the Spirit of Elijah.

There will be an interactive role-playing part to practice transitioning heritage-based conversations into gospel invitations, alongside training on the Family Name Assist tool to help new converts and friends of the Church begin their own temple work immediately.
Taught by A. Beecher. Room A.
