Adventures in Tutoring

Adventures in Tutoring We offer Preschool, Speech, and Tutoring. We love working with kiddos! Tutoring services are available for students 2-18 in all areas of academics. I love my job!

We offer preschool for kiddos 2-5 years old, with great flexibility in how many days a week and times. Tutoring is individualized for each student. Also available are speech and language services. I'm not a licensed speech therapist however I have had years of training from licensed speech language pathologists, in teaching kiddos to communicate either verbally with articulation, with sign languag

e, or with pictures. I received my Bachelors and Masters degrees in special education from the University of Utah. I am a level 2 licensed teacher with more than 12 years of classroom experience. I work with kiddos who just need a little extra boost to kiddos that have significant disabilities.

This years Christmas ornament turned out adorably. Every child painted their elf with acrylic markers. We used painters tape to help them paint specific parts such as just the mittens or shoes. I can’t wait for them to take them home next week. It was fun to see their color combinations. Frequently the students will say things like, “I want green it is my mom/dad’s favorite color” They love making things the parents will adore.

Look at these adorable little turkeys. They made turkey hats with things they are thankful for on each feather.

Early in November we spent a week celebrating the writing of Mo Willems. I love the Elephant and Piggie books and this year we included the Pigeon stories as well. If I had time I would include all of the Mo Willems books. The kiddos made either a Gerald (Elephant) or a Piggie mask and then we created a bus for Pigeon. They had so much fun with these art projects and they kept reenacting their favorite parts of the stories. To add to the fun of the week we were silly with crazy hats, socks, pajamas, and hair. Luckily it was nice fall weather and we could play outside in the leaves as well and get some of our wiggles out.

This week we taught the kids all about emotions. We created emotion charts to see how we are feeling. We talked about things that make us feel sad, happy, angry, excited, and scared. We also discussed things we can do when we feel those big emotions. The kids recreated faces showing emotion with playdough. This was a great fine motor skill for rolling out snakes (mouths) or balls (eyes). Then when we took their pictures they tried to look the same as the playdough face.
