From our Open Arms Director Kathie Couture:

"In the fall of 2020 my healthy 18 year old daughter Reece was a freshmen in college when she was diagnosed with epilepsy. She went from being one of the fastest athletes on her cross country team to having seizures. Unable to continue with college due to the number of uncontrolled seizures she made the difficult decision to withdrawal from school to focus on her health. During testing it was discovered her epilepsy is from an encephalocele,
a small hole in her skull in which a portion of her brain protrudes thru. This was a birth defect that went unnoticed for 18 years. Over the past five years we have tried numerous medications but her seizures are not yet controlled. We value the work the Epilepsy Foundation of New England does for Reece and everyone else dealing with Epilepsy.
On June 1st we will be attending the New England Epilepsy walk in Boston. We have set a modest team goal of $500. If you would like to contribute to our team please see the link below.
Epilepsy can affect 1:26 people. Reece is 1:26."

Please consider helping us fight Epilepsy.
