Southside FCCLA had a wonderful time at Joint Leadership Development Conference today! JLDC consists of 9 CTSO organizations from across Alabama. We enjoyed hearing from the talented keynote speaker, Shaun Derik. His story and energy truly inspired our members to lead with passion and purpose. We had such a great time and we can’t for next year’s JLDC conference!

MEET YOUR 2026-2027 OFFICER TEAM 🌟❤️🐾

Our FCCLA officers are student leaders who have been selected to help guide our chapter throughout the school year. Officers are expected to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, communication skills, initiative, and a willingness to serve others. They will assist with planning and leading chapter meetings, organizing activities and service projects, promoting FCCLA within our school and community, and encouraging other members to become involved.

Each officer brings their own strengths, experiences, and leadership qualities to the team, and together they will play an important role in representing our FCCLA chapter.

We’re looking forward to a year of leadership, service, competition, and opportunities to grow through FCCLA!

It’s getting bread-y in Nutrition and Foods! 🥖🍞🥯🥐🥨

We’re kicking off our breads unit with a little science in the kitchen! Students made 7UP biscuits last week while studying leavening agents and how they affect the volume, texture, and structure of baked goods.

This week, we’re onto sourdough! Students made their first starters and have begun exploring fermentation, yeast, and bacteria as natural leavening agents.

Thank you Pop Culture Soda for bringing the fun + flavor to our teachers for a late teacher appreciation treat from Southside FCCLA! We rescheduled due to weather last week and it was the perfect treat on this Wednesday before finals!

Our Child Development classes wrote and illustrated a children’s book that emphasized a moral lesson! These stories and illustrations were simply amazing - some even inspired by true stories. Students were tasked with creating a charcuterie board including elements of each group member’s books. They sat with their groups, read their stories, and enjoyed a shared snack in class! These students did an incredible job! 📚🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🎨

3rd + 6th period Nutrition +Foods students played a real life game of Chopped - as seen on Food Network - in class this week! So much fun seeing their creativity shine!
