On August 4, 2018, a crushing grief spread through our family as Johnnie Dukes, a loving Husband, Dad, Granddaddy, man of God, old-school Cowboy, Horse Whisperer, and friend to many, unexpectedly lost his life to complications from a heart procedure. Words are not adequate to describe the loss of his presence, humor, smile, wisdom and love. To say we were not prepared for this is a tremendous understatement.

On Saturday, August 11th we will celebrate Johnnie's life at Southerland Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 12:30pm and the Memorial Service begins at 2:00pm. We will have a memory book available and ask that everyone take a moment to write down a memory of Johnnie for our family to treasure.

We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support for Linda and the rest of the family and look forward to seeing all of those that Johnnie called friend on Saturday. In particular, we are grateful to Bonnie Monk, who has been more than a friend to our family, she IS family to us and whose friendship with Johnnie was an irreplaceable treasure to him.
