Now Accepting Applications: 2026 Summer Youth Academy!

The Southlake Police and Fire Departments are excited to announce that applications are now open for our 2026 Summer Youth Academy!

When: June 15 – June 18, 2026

This hands-on experience gives students a behind-the-scenes look at public safety in Southlake.

Who Can Apply:
• Must be a Southlake resident or attend a Southlake school
• Currently finishing 7th–9th grade

What to Expect:
• See live demonstrations from K9, drone, and SWAT teams
• Participate in a mock crime scene with detectives
• Train alongside firefighters with simulated fire scenarios
• Navigate confined spaces and take part in search & rescue missions
• Learn hands-only CPR and basic first aid
It is free to apply and attend, however, space is limited!

Additional details, including the full agenda and location, will be provided upon registration.

This is a great opportunity for students to learn, engage, and experience what it takes to serve their community. We look forward to seeing this year’s class!

This week Southlake SRO’s attended the NASRO conference at the Ga***rd Texas. This valuable conference gave them all extra tools and tips that willl help them to continue to keep Southlake Schools and Florence Elementary safe.

Youth Academy 2025 is complete! If you know a 7th grader - 10th grader interested in public safety that attends CISD - this academy happens every June.

Southlake youth police and fire academy has been a blast! Thanks to all the kids who spent 4 days with us!

Many of the Southlake SRO are attending Texas School Safety conference in San Antonio. Several topics are being discussed including Sextortion. Please talk to your teen about the dangers of talking with strangers online and never send nudes!

Day 4 ~ the last day of academy included many educations and hands-on activities.
