An Ordinary Day in Southington, 100 Years Ago From 1919 to 1974, The Southington News was the town’s main newspaper. For most of its run, it published a mix of articles on local news and sports along with editorials and ads, just like its successor, The Southington Observer.

The Southington Genealogical Society will present a webinar on the topic of Artificial Intelligence and Genealogy on Tuesday, March 24. The 7 p.m. program exploring AI and its role in family research will be held in-person at the Southington Historical Society, 239 Main St. and can also be accessed by Zoom. Missing No More: Remains Of Southington WWII Airman Recovered On the night of March 22, 1945, six weeks before N**i Germany surrendered, a fleet of B-17G ‘Flying Fortress’ bombers belonging to the 429th Bombardment Squadron, 2nd Bombardment Group, took off from an airfield in Italy to begin a long, hazardous journey northward.
