Legacy Dance Studio, LLC - Southfield

Before it became , it was called Decoration Day.

After the Civil War, formerly enslaved Black Americans helped lead some of the earliest memorial observances honoring Union soldiers who died fighting for freedom — decorating graves with flowers, marching in remembrance, and refusing to let those sacrifices be forgotten.

Robert Ford from stands as a reminder of the young Black soldiers whose courage, service, and sacrifice became part of that legacy.

Today, that tradition lives on as Memorial Day. And on this day, we remember them all.
