In June 2025, a parent and I filed a state complaint with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) against Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) and Mann Learning Community located at 19625 Elmira Street, Detroit, Michigan 48228.

MDE confirmed that the district failed to provide required special education services — and ordered a corrective action plan that benefits not just the child we were fighting for but all affected students at Mann Learning Community.

This means:
✅ Compensatory services (make-up time) for missed speech-language therapy
✅ Review of all student records to find who missed services
✅ Stronger procedures to ensure services and IEP timelines are met
