What an amazing week at GDABVI!
We kicked off the week with our monthly Support Group, where we welcomed Casey Pellar from Detroit Disability Power and Jake from AT Guys. Participants learned about transportation advocacy, community resources, and the latest assistive technology designed to increase independence and accessibility.
Our Job Club was also buzzing with activity as participants continued building professional skills, confidence, and strategies for success in the workplace.
At the Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired, we are committed to helping individuals gain the confidence, skills, and support they need on their journey toward greater independence and a true Life Beyond Sight.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this week. The future is bright, and we’re excited to continue growing together!

What an amazing day at VISIONS 2026 at the Ann Arbor District Library!
We had the opportunity to connect with individuals from across Michigan, meet with organizations providing valuable services and resources for people who are blind and visually impaired. We learn about the latest innovations in accessibility and independence.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting Christine Hà, the first blind winner of MasterChef and an incredible advocate, author, and chef. It was a pleasure to hear her story and celebrate all that is possible when determination meets opportunity.
A special thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us. Together, we’re building a community where blindness is not a barrier, but simply one part of a person’s journey.

What a wonderful day to visit the zoo! 🦁🐘🦒
Good vibes, great company, tasty treats, and of course, amazing animals and exhibits around every corner. Days like this are a reminder to slow down, enjoy the moment, and appreciate the beauty all around us.
A day well spent making memories and having fun! ❤️🐾
Something exciting is happening at the Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind & Visually Impaired… and you can feel the energy the moment you walk through the door.
We are moving, growing, connecting, and creating opportunities almost every single day. Yesterday our Book Club brought great conversation, laughter, and storytelling to the table. Today, our Job Club is helping individuals build confidence, explore opportunities, and prepare for the future. And tomorrow, the men are back in the building for our second Men’s Support Group meeting, where real conversations and real connections are taking place.
The Agency has been BUSY in the best way possible. Events after events. Programs after programs. Community after community.
The excitement is in the air, and we are just getting started.
Whether you are looking for services, support, volunteer opportunities, partnerships, or would like to make a donation to help us continue changing lives across Southeast Michigan, we would love to connect with you.

Vision loss can change a life in an instant.
The right support can help rebuild it. 💙
For over 64 years, the Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind & Visually Impaired has been helping people across Southeast Michigan rediscover independence, confidence, and possibility. From adaptive technology and support groups to life skills and community connection, this work reaches far beyond what most people ever see.
Now, we’re asking the community to stand with us.
We are working to raise $75,000 to continue serving individuals across seven counties during one of the most difficult financial seasons in our history. Rising costs and declining donations are hitting nonprofits hard, but the need for services continues to grow.
Behind every donation is a real story:
✨ Someone learning to navigate life after vision loss
✨ A parent cooking for their family again
✨ A senior reconnecting with the world around them
✨ A person realizing their independence is not gone, just evolving
This mission is about dignity. Hope. And making sure nobody has to face vision loss alone.
Please donate if you can, and share this post to help us reach more hearts, more people, and more futures.
